For those who value survival, sentimentality is not an option. Arawn looked uncharacteristically soft in the dancing light from the fire. She looked thoughtful, and almost pensive as she let her hand stroke through the short, soft fur of the deer she and her hunting band had recently caught. All its dark edges were blurred into the blackness of the hunting cabin. It was almost unnerving. Her expression didn’t change as she plunged the knife into the cold, hardened flesh and tore the skin to separate the fur from the carcass, just like her father had taught her before he had passed. It happened almost automatically. The animal had made a valiant effort attempting to defend itself, and Arawn was meaning to honor every part of her. However, the deer wasn't the only thing keeping her up through the night. Arawn couldn't help but notice that the Commander had been gone for quite some time now. She always tried to keep a close eye on her. Lexa was extremely adept at what she did, but sometimes, the woman seemed to have an eye for trouble. Arawn could only worry. So, she stayed up until morning, alternating between skinning animals and scouting the edge of the forest in search of any clues as to where the Commander could be. A thick mist had found its way to her, slowly taking control of the woods. She couldn't see much further ahead than only a few meters, but managed to notice a certain distinction coming at her through the mist. Her right hand moved towards her left wrist, where a small blade had been neatly tucked into her leather gauntlet. + Lexa & Romeo |
