Zanna knew that most men didn't have a lot of patience. She was taking a lot of his time, time that he could use on something or someone else. Time he could spend with his friends or the others that worked on his ship. The young girl herself was trying to figure out a way without having him search the entire city for Kaz. He might not seem the perfect caregiver but he was a lot better then her father had been. At least he cared somewhat about the young child. The man of the docks seemed to soften slightly at her touch, though he didn't seem to like her short and not so informative answers. "Fine," He said after another sigh. Before he looked down at her, seemingly deep in thought. He reached into his pocket, which made her follow his hand with her eyes. Once a girl of the streets, always a girl of the streets. The friendly but firm man pulled a key out of his pocket and hesitantly gave it to the young child. "This is the key to the captain's chamber on the ship over there." He announced to her, pointing to a vessel that was resting at the dock. It was huge, large and appeared almost dangerous in her opinion. He was a man of importance, if he had that much money and was able to have a vessel and a huge house. "If you can't find anyone, you can stay here. Lock the door and you'll be safe." The girl took the key before looking it over somewhat thoughtfully. She didn't want to harm him, or steal from him. If he trusted her with his vessel and went such great lengths to keep her safe from the drunk and dangers of these streets. "Thank you, will you be back in the morning? I do not want to keep the key away from you." The girl whispered, her voice soft and fair. An innocent's voice. Though not all her actions were innocent, she didn't wish to harm others oe hurt them if she could prevent that. There was a reason she had saved Romeo from a knive in his back. A reason that she tried not to steal to much from others. It always left her feeling uncomfortable. Though sometimes she had no other option.

Zanna knew her best option was to go to the vessel and sleep there and stay behind the closed door for the night. That way no one could come near her and harm her. She could not face any drunks. She feared them, working with Kaz didn't scare her; but drunk people did. They were easily angered and could kill even though they had more trouble moving around. She might be fast and invasive, but she could not fight off anyone that was older and larger then she was. She however could hide. Before she decided to take his offer however, she felt that she could at least share her name with him. "I am Zanna," Her eyes moved up towards his, looking straight at him for a few seconds, with a vunerable look in her eyes.

Time's Arrow - Pagina 2 Empty Re: Time's Arrow

The irony hadn’t escaped him: the last couple weeks he had spent more time talking to this random, estranged girl than he had spent with his own daughter. The idea made him slightly sick, and it caused him to feel all the more impatient about her leaving. Still, he couldn’t just let her wander the streets at night, so he came up with a solution. A solution he was somewhat hesitant about, since it involved leaving one of his most valuable possessions to an eight year old. There was a decent chance the girl was a thief, or something like that, and he’d end up losing a ship. Not just any ship, his ship. The one he’d spent the majority of his life on. The one he’d killed his own father for. He ended up giving her the key anyway, like the massive idiot that he was. She gave him a thoughtful look before taking it from him, and Asher didn’t really know whether to regret it already or not. He felt somewhat more reassured when she asked him if he’d be back in the morning. “Yeah, I will be,” he answered, although he wasn’t sure whether that was the truth. Chances were he was going to look for a tavern to spend his time in, knocking back quite a few drinks. Maybe he’d end up in some random brothel, waking up in the late afternoon with a massive headache. No, that wasn’t an option anymore. He had to be here. Early.

He already dreaded the thought of going home. Maybe he wouldn’t. He could just find an inn, spend the night there, come back to the harbor in the morning and go straight back to work after that. He would avoid going home altogether that way. Besides, he was sure no one would worry if he didn’t come back at all. He’d lost himself in his own thoughts for a bit when she decided to finally introduce herself. Zanna. He nodded. “Asher,” he told her. He wasn’t sure whether she knew who he was. He found himself hoping she didn’t. “I’ll walk you to the ship,” he told her, nodding toward the vessel. It’d be a damn shame if she managed to get herself hurt while trying to get there.

While the man on the docks was still a stranger, Zanna knew he would not do her any harm. At least not at this moment, unless she tried to do him harm. Which she could if she decided to steal the vessel; as the thief she was. Though she might have done so with any other man, the trust that the other put into her, even though she was a stranger; made her feel responsible for the large ship. He gave her something that was important for him, if his reluctance was something to go by. Somewhat thoughtful the young child decided to ask when he would be back. She wished to ensure that the key was given back to him. She would hold onto it if needed but prefered giving it back as soon as possible. He for one should know about the dangers even a fairly innocent child could pose. "Yeah, I will be," The man of the docks answered her. Without any doubt, assuring her that he would be back. Which meant that she didn't have to worry about the key or vessel the following morning. Actually, she could search Kaz after she had givem his ship back, when the sun would rise towards dawn.

Zanna hoped she would find her caregiver soon. It was awful not to have him around, she was second guessing everything. Hoping she might make the roght decisions. She was eight, how was she supposed to do so? She knew a little about hidden agenda's, but still. A child could only know so much. Zanna was not experienced in the art of lying and living. The man seemed lost in his own thoughts while the child introduced herself, while looking at him with her innocent eyes. The man nodded. "Asher," He told her, which made her frown for a moment. She knew that she should remember his name, though it sounded a bit familiar. "I'll walk you to the ship," He told her while nodding towards the large vessel. Zanna reached out to his hand to allow him to lead the way. She wasn't fond of water, couldn't really swim.
