Let's sink another drink Empty Let's sink another drink

Hear me roar.

If there was one thing he enjoyed more than being on the sea it was telling and making up stories. Scribbling up a few words here and there. Most of the time he randomly started with things that came into his mind in an instant. And other times he used his own experiences to spice his stories up a bit. But it also reminds him of the time at sea. Ever since he was closed in here it kept his mind at ease. And as he licked his lips he continues his story. Seeing the eyes of the servants being pointed at him he grinned and leaned forward towards the castle servants that where so intrigued by the tale his hands resting on the chair.

His liquid golden eyes seemed to light up the room and as he grins heavily he seemed to get even more attention. Not that he put his focus on that. In every tavern it was the same.. women where very easily persuaded around there. But this was different. This was another country with other people. But the stories of the kraken and other beasts always seemed to ’stir’ up curious feelings in people.

“Hoist the colours!”

Where the last words that came from his lips. He grins slowly and brings his story to an climax and then moves himself back onto the chair. Telling stories was a nice way of distraction but it always made your throat very dry and harsh. His voice warm as he raised the glass from the table and makes a toast. Evenings at the castle could instead of what people thought sometimes be more relaxed. A drink here and there and a talk with some other castle inhabitants. But after he had finished the story he turned into himself. Turning the glass from left to right, his bright eyes were mesmerized by the golden liquid that was captured inside the translucent material. Depending on how the light broke on the surface of the drink, the colour changed from a dark and deep ember to a light, almost honey like to gold.

It had taken him quite some time to come to realise that all this around him. The city, the peope. The heat and the constant sand were all part of some ritual. It lived every day, on and on in a endless cycle. Never had he thought he'd be returning to a cycle like this. He had faught and trained and hell even killed an a simular god damn cycle back in illyria. When he had left the mountains behind he had sworn to himself to never fall for such a pattern again.

But he was a soldier. He was raised as one and his mind couldn't be altered in any way. He was born for it. So when opportunity rose he took the chance, the job for kingsguard. How he had managed to be invited into the royal guard still left him clueless. But it gave his life something of a new meaning.

So here he was. Sitting in the darkness of the servantsbar in the castle. It was quite insane that the palace had such a place. But it gave the staff a little time off. Which some of them took for granted. Someone who did was the dark haired man. A sailor he had heard. A no good idiot who was to be wed to one of the two princesses of Valyria. Why, he had no idea. But it was not in his place to ask questions. Merely to observe.

And observe he did. As the man shouted some words bringing his story to an end as everyone sitting around him seemed all the more interested in him. He seemed to think high and mighty of himself. Something Devon coould't always admire in a person. But he had to admit this one was interesting.

So he placed himself next to the sailor. Holding his cup easily as he turned to the man. "You've been all over the world huh." He started as he took a sip. Watching him with his light green eyes interested.

Hear me roar.

His story was finished with the last three and most important words. He loved bringing his story to an climax but still leave some space for an open end to continue his stories once people would ask him to do so. And mostly he did. Especially around the borders of Valyria. Everything was so static and pérfect here that people almost never had encountered any type of adventure. And that, was a rather boring life if you asked him so. He lifts the glass and moves it from his left hand to his right hand. Mesmerized by the colors in the candlelit environment they alcohol gave. He grins and takes another sip. Evenings where always good for a drink. Well, every moment of the day was a good time for a drink. Perhaps not in the morning when you are tired and sleepy. But other then that he was often found drinking ale, whiskey and other beverages. But he preferred whiskey. People intend to get a good mood from it and stay very talkative that way. And as his mind lingered on in a clumsy sea of shipwrecks he got ripped out off his thoughts before long. He noticed in the corner of his gold eyes how a stranger had placed himself next to him and makes a statement. "You've been all over the world huh." Perhaps it was true, it could also be false. Who knows? He could be pretty dishonest if you asked him. and you can always expect and dishonest man to be dishonest.  Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly....stupid.

He grins. That kind of grin that made you wonder if he had anything else on his sleeve. His gaze is turned around towards the guy who placed himself next to him. You could say so.. The glass was raised a little and he takes another sip until it was empty and it was placed on the table again. With the back of his hand he ‘wipes’ away the liquid around his lips. Bard, hand me another whiskey. Double please. And one for my friend next to me. The man nodded slowly as he filled two glasses. Rhys on the other hand had turned himself away from the bar and leaned with his back against it. Slowly a grin on his face appeared again. New here? he spoke towards the stranger with a hint of warmness in his voice.

If you did not know Devon very well you could see his general uncomfortableness for akwardness. But it was all just because of the new situations. Back at home he had always had the biggest mouth. Been an easy talker and made friends all around. Now in these lands he had to focus himself on appearing as a better man than he had been. Or even better, a completely different man. He did not want anyone to know what he had done or what he could have been. The only thing he had kept from his old life was the name his mother had given to him and a small pendant dangling around his neck. The only two things he wouldn't have been able to seperate with after his horrific failures all those years ago.

It reminded him in a certain way of what he had been able to do but mostly what he had done with his arrogance. And that he should never become like that again. He was granted a new chance, a new life and he could not afford to loose it to his own stupid arrogance once more.

A little sunk away in his thoughts his head shook up as a glass of whiskey was placed in front of him and he took it gladly. Taking a sip after raising his glass towards the golden eyed man and nodded slow. It wouldn't matter if he lied right now about these small things or not. He was quite sure he wouldn't have much to do with this man anymore after tonight. "The newest soldier." He laughed soft and shook his head before brushing his hair backwards with his hand. Turning to look at the man again. "And you huh? Haven't seen you around before either." He casually asked leaning against the bar keeping the conversation light and easy as could be.

Let's sink another drink Empty Re: Let's sink another drink

Hear me roar.

Rhys could probably be described as rather ‘odd’, dreamy and probably charming to those who were worth it. And right now all of his charm senses where pointed on the princess. Some gem he was not worth touching nor even get close to. The dark haired beauty with the most mesmerising pink eyes he had ever seen. The girl who had infiltrated on the ship were he worked. The girl some people called a witch. So he was left with his dreamy and odd kind of character whilst the girl was not around. Making him realise that it was probably for the best to make up some stories and entertain the other guests or servants with. As he was also entertaining himself with it while he was talking about the adventures at sea. He had been roaming the waters since he was only 18 years old so enough stories to tell if you’d ask him.

But the man who placed himself on the barstool besides him decided it was time to take another path. One which Rhys would gladly walk along.Does the new soldier has a name? he muttered as he turns himself on the barstool towards the man besides him and leans with his arm against the used wood of the bar.

Someone kept me busy. So I haven’t got the time to meet all the new faces around here Rhys added to his question without turning his face away. But he slowly picks up the glass from the bar with his free hand and takes another sip, and shortly after that another one. What keeps you busy, soldier? he asked almost hasty as his fingers played with the glass. mesmerised by the colors of the drink.

The name is Rhys' his smile is crooked and he moves his body back to the front of the bar again. There was an ease of life here, despite the presence on the king and queen close he felt a little more at ease at this tavern then in the halls he once had to clean and the grass he had to sow. Of only the capt'n knew what kind of jobs he would do here the crew and captain would definitely laugh at him.

His green eyes kept locked up on this man. He had heard almost nothing about him from the other soldiers. And what he heard never seemed to be anything good. But all he could really see right now was a drunk with a bit too many stories to all be true. Nontheless he seemed to be someone you could enjoy your evening with. Enjoyin a drink and taking a relaxed breath, not worrying about pride and status for a second, because he obviously did not seem to care.

"Devon, Devon McConnell. From Vanaheim." He replied to his quuestion. The last name even after all this time somewhat tasting wrong on his tongue. But he had taken it all to heart. It was his life now and he couldn't quite change anything about that now could he.

He smirked a bit leaning on the bar as he took his drink. "Someone hmm?" Perhaps the rumors were true after all. But he had no place in questioning it. Yet he was somewhat interested. He was a royal guard now. Which ment protecting the royal family. She doubted he would be a real threat, otherwise the king wouldn't allow him to live but still. Someone to keep an eye on perhaps. "What keeps me busy hmm. What else but a girl." He smirked soft thinking about the dark haired beauty he had met down in the city. He longed to see her once again. Speak to her, but he hadn't even catched her last name. She had been like a flower in the wind. All too swiftly blown away.

The crooked smile made him relax again and he nodded towards him. "Pleasure to meet you Rhys." He reacted looking over the tavern as he leaned backwards and turned his head towards Rhy once again. "So what do you do around here? The palace I mean. Seeing this is a tavern for workers." He drank on casually but stayed focussed with interest on him.

Hear me roar.

Evenings like these kept him busy. It kept him also from doing stupid things around the castle. Since Robin was busy with her own duties he had to make sure to keep himself as distracted as possible.

The guy introduced himself as Devon and he nodded. Letting the name roll through his mind for a few times. But there were no alarms that ringed. He didn’t knew the name, nor the face that went with it. His mind trailed on to the next words and his gold gaze was pierced on Devon again. Vanaheim... he mutters as he takes another sip from the glass. What is it like in Vanaheim? Besides way too hot and quite sandy. He had heard the stories of the enormous orange deserts and it’s sand storms. Could be quite windy there as well. But he had never visited the place himself. Perhaps it was worth a visit once he got out off this rotten place of a castle. But for now he had to keep his act together and be friendly, yet reserved. Curious but calm as well.

A girl you say. It could be more of a statement then an honest question. But still he could not help it but wonder what girl he was talking ‘bout. But perhaps that was a question for another place and another time.

The pleasure is all mine, Devon. He smiles as his head was pushed back towards the bar again. Perhaps he had to keep him as a friend, or at least an acquaintance. Who knows if he ever needed a guard. At least there would be someone that was quite ‘cooperative.’ Hopefully.

I keep myself distracted, since my fiancee is too busy minding her own business. he simply points out as his face was turned away.

As the few musicians in the back took up their insturments again a soft song filled the tavern. Making multiple men look up before they soon returned to their conversations with eachother. Laughing and drinking. Not minding the soldier or sailor any longer as the interesting stories had finished and it did not seem that anymore would come out again soon.

Shit. He asked him about Vanaheim. A slightly difficult expression crossed his face, he had spend some time there but barely enough to truly know about the place. "Well it's not as Sandy as Valyria seems to be." He replied with a smirk, hoping to steer around the question as best he could. Over all Devon was an honest man, had always been one, it killed him to lie even about simple things but he had to keep his own facts checked. This wasn't for himself. He wasn't here because of pride. No screw his pride. But it was his parents legacy, his brothers reputation that made him forget he ever was a Gryphon. It was better after all this time to die a hero than to live as a failure. The problem was that he had been so much of a failure he couldn't even die right. And thus it all led him back to here. Stuck in a palace serving a king he barely knew but was learned to obey. So that worked out atleast in some way. He still served the same king, only under different banners this time.

"A girl yes indeed." He smirked softly. "And I fear I got to say, but your fiance pales in her beauty." He laughed soft taking another sip of his drink. Blaming his easy words on the alcohol but knowing that this man wouldn't scream bloody murder as he didn't call the princess the most gorgeous creature on the planet. Rather Rhys should be happy. There was no competition coming from his part. That should account for something shouldn't it. "Only a shame that I'll probably never see her again." He ticked the glass against his lower lip before shaking the thought away. Not wanting to start some sob story. "Ah nevermind." He told himself more than anything and finished of the drink.

Hear me roar.

Rhys looks up for a few seconds as the musciains started playing their songs again. He grins slowly as he saw some men laughing at each other and wondered what they were actually laughing about. But as fast as he turned his face towards them as fast as he turned it back again.

Sandy, he said. From what he had heard Vanaheim was a desert place. But not as much as Valyria was. The orange tones of Vanaheim made the place somewhat magical, yet deadly. Deadly because of the creatures that were lurking around, deadly because of the dryness the landscape has. For him it did not matter. He was lingering between Rhoynar and Valyria and he was perfect content with that. Right now his main goal was to travel back to Rhoynar again. But .. yeah .. that was quite impossible now.

Men will always be men. Their personal ‘projects’ will be always more beautiful, extraordinary, elegant and so on. Rhys shook his head and a little grin appeared on his face. I don’t think so Devon. he smirks as he tilted his head back and empties the glass. For sure your project cannot be more handsome than a princess of Valyria. he fills his words in as he shuts his eyes back on Devon. Perhaps it was a dare, perhaps it was just making fun of him. Who knows. After all, he was getting a little tipsy from the many drinks that he already ordered this evening.

But as Devon points out that he would probably never see her again he frowns his brow and his gaze was turned towards Devon again. You serious? he aksed a little questionably. Did not ask her name or where she came from? while still curious he let the bard fill another drink for him and let his hand rest around the glass for a while.

His easy smile was just as easily faked. He felt barely something for his talk with the fiancee of the princess. He was a bold sailor with no smooth edge or training around him. He would be reckless and probably even a dirty player on the sparringfield. Yet he had by some way managed to have a princess fall in love with him enough to ask his hand in marriage. He shook his head at the thought as he did not know what in truth went down between him and the princess or king.

His words made him laugh, protecting his precious princess and making Devon shake his head slowly. "Well I have to painfully admit that I have not been here long enough to see either of the two princeses in person. But I have heard many of tales and I got to say. Unless those stories are off from the truth there is no possibility they could be more handsome than the nymph I met." A watery smile turned on his lips as he twisted the glass around in his hand. Staring at the golden liquid splashing around agaisnt the sides. Making him think of her again. If only he had had one more hour with her. He would've been able to learn so much more about her.

Rhys asked him if he was serious about never seeing the shadow of a girl again and he nodded slow. Staring at the rack of alcoholic bevarages behind the bar as he reinmagined her. "Ofcourse I did. She said she was called Ravenna. And that she was from around here. But that is all the information I was able to get out of her. Besides the fact that her carriage had broken down and she had gone intothe city without her guards." He shook his head remembering the simple moments and her laugh clear as honey in his ears. With the sweet ring to it that made a smile turn onto his own lips almost immediatly.

Heroes rise heroes fall, Rise again, win it all
In your heart, can't you feel the glory

He did not need a lot of reasons to leave his quarters for a while and let his bum sit on one of these stools in the tavern that was set up for the workers. After all those workers seemed to enjoy their lives even more then these static royals. Those people never wanted to hear the stories he had to tell and most of them would pick up their noses for it. Because pirates stories were quite unknown in this kingdom of gold and dust. And way too adventurous for  these perfect polished dolls. But if you would ask him he was grown tired and bored of them already. No fun would ever come from a royal. Besides Robin of course, while she was more like an adventurous witch or a hot mermaid. He raises the glass with liquid again and licks his lips by the thought of her. Those pretty locks she got and those pink eyes which started into his soul all the time. Yes, she was perfect. Perfect she is.

It was almost funny to see how the two were fighting about which lady was the prettiest. For himself he would always win. Robin could be the one he had ever dreamed off. Perhaps even more. So while he heard that he had never met the two princesses in person he grinned. Well, if you have ever seen a portrait of the queen.. those two princesses are .. well. What can I say. Extravagant in appearance. Beyond beautiful, wise, charming. And I can continue for a while. he grins as his face was turned away from Devon again. onto the man behind the bar signing to him that he wanted another drink.

Rhys took another sip from his drink after the tavern keeper had filled his glass again. And he had asked the question about the lady her name. Which he seemed to answer almost immediately. At first the name did not made any sense but when he added that she was from around here his eyes grew wider and before he knew the alcohol was spit out over the bar. With disbelief in his eyes he turned his gaze towards Devon. What?! He raises his brows and let the back of his hand trail over his mouth to wipe away the spilled alcohol. Jesus dude, are you sure this was her name? Rhys leans back a bit as he scratches his head. Still not sure if he was serious or not.
