Only in their last moments
one shows his true nature

It felt quite strange. The taste of blood and raw meat on his lips never quite seemed to be something you could get used to. It tasted sweet, with a hint of iron or salt. It could take him years to describe what it was he was tasting and it still wouldn't be quite the right combination of words to describe it. Truly blood was one of the most amazing things you could feed yourself on in this world. He hadn't always been like this, once he was a normal mortal, enjoying his mortal life with his mortal problems and his mortal feelings. It might even come as a shock that he had given this all up so willingly. His reasoning might have been more on the romantic side. Which honestly, seems almost impossible seeing how he was right now. Achilles was a monster in almost every sence of the way. He was taller and more broad than perhaps any man alive. His eyes seemed to shift from almost a glowing light blue to deep dark pits of black which showcased his nickname 'shark'. Any person would be scared if they got too close and saw the real him. Even from further away he seemed more like a monster than a man. There was something twisted about the way he walked, the way he seemed to zone in on a person and stare straight through their souls. This was not something he had gotten exactly from handing over his soul. He had always been a cold and bitter person. Death had been en enjoyment of his from long before while he had still been human. He enjoyed watching things suffer and making lives come to an end. However, that had not been why he signed over his mortal soul.

It had all been because of her. Her ruby red hair and deep blue eyes that had hold him captive. She had sang to him and turned his stone cold heart soft and warm, and he had loved her. Owh how he had loved her. She had been his and he had layed his life with hers. And then she died.

She died and left him alone.

It had been enough to drive him crazy. It had been enough to find out any possible way to bring her back. He had abused her dead body like he had tried to create some sort of frankenstein. He had injected her with any kind of poison to turn her back into some mutant life form hell even spiderman couldn't take that much venom inside of him. He had tried it all and in the end only ended up ruining her body. So he tried to do the next best thing. Find a way to return her soul to him. And he had found a way, tales speaking about souls being immortal, returning to a new body once the old one had died. He could find her reincarnation and be with her once more. All at the low cost of time. He needed time to find her again, time to let her grow up and become his once more. So he sold his soul to the devil. Bargained a deal, became a living corpse for the devils advocate and bring hell to earth with every blue moon that hit it. Ever since he gave himself up he had slowly been turning into less and less of a human being with every moon that came and went. But he found her, he found her and protected her, he found her and loved her. And in the end. Out of the maybe 10 or already 20 times that he had found her. He had killed her over and over again. It was a cruel fate and probably for his companions a laughing stock every 30 to 40 years. He'd take it. He'd shoulder it. One day he would find her. One day they'd be together, she'd remember him and they'd grow old together. However much of a fleeting dream that may be.

In silence he moved his body up again, the moon was fading from the night sky and soon dawn would break. Their play would be over and all of them would be fed and ready for however long it might take to bring upon the next fit of hunger. Normally this would just be a quiet time for all of them. They were not social people and only really came together if their lord and commander requested this of them. But now it seemed he was not alone. It wasn't one of their own however.
A strange sensation ran through his body as he moved his body up slowly. Wiping the blood from his lips as a grin grazed his face. Staring straight into the eyes of a mortal man. A highborn mortal man ineed. "Ah. Such an honor it is." He said a almost pleasant warmth in his voice while his eyes stayed icy cold. With an bow he greeted him before raising himself up again. "Your majesty, awake so early?"

Thriumph

There was something about this night. Thriumph had felt it in his bones, it was an eerie feeling that crawled in the insides of his body. Maybe it was the quietness the past days have had. Since he was king his whole day was filled with strategic meetings, whether he needed to take extra control on the border post, or just renew the trade route that was so important for Navarre. Next to that was finding the right council quite a huge task, he needed more respect from the people. But at the same time, starting a civil war was the last thing he wanted. So he went on, searching for the right men to lead the country, keep enough money and keep the borders as closed as he could. Especially the northern seas, they were very open and needed to be protected at any cost.

Accepting his mind wouldn’t be done thinking for a long time, he decided sleep wasn’t an option anymore. It was almost morning anyway and soon the day would start with another meeting, maybe he could come closer to an agreement for the border posts that laid eastern of D’auvignon. Taking some fresh air to think even more wouldn’t be bad, he thought as he stepped outside on his horse. He left quietly, leaving a note for his guard where he would be and when he would return. It was quite a luxury to have, especially since he was very talented and had some interesting magic. Once outside the borders he could feel the pressure take off for just a moment. It seemed like the city had too much weight on him, now he needed to fix so much.

For some time he stepped on, enjoying the eerie quietness that would set the hairs in your neck stand up straight. His thoughts however were disturbed by a fleshy sound, which would make many nauseous. Thriumph glided off his horse leaving it stand there, knowing the horse would stay where he left him. Although it was still really dark, he could see the contour of a man, close to the ground. A small grin appeared on his face while hearing his words. ’Achilles, enjoy your meal.’ He said cold, keeping the grin on his face as he pointed towards the remains of what probably was a human before. ’My thoughts awoke me, and who needs sleep anyways.’ His icy blue eyes observed the man for a moment, carefully as he was. ’Had a productive night?’ He asked after, seeing the many blood stains in his clothes while looking for some satisfaction in his eyes.

Only in their last moments
one shows his true nature

He had enjoyed this night way too much already. Wanted more and more with every minute that passed. But all his emotions of hunger dissapeared. The man who had just joined him was so much more important than his hunger or the best blood in the world. Though, Achilles had tried it before and he had to say. Medici blood wasn't all that bad. If only this man wasn't important for his masters plans, otherwise he would've tasted Medici blood again.

Instead the wicked grin on his lips grew a bit wider as he inspected the king. A marvelous man to look at. King of all that his father and brother had left him. A broken, burned and still bleeding land. Defender of the wide open sea. Lapdog of Valyria. It was almost sad to see. Thriumph had so much more in stock. And if it had been in another life Achilles might've even persuaded him to join their cause. Thirumph would make a great vampire and a great member of their special little friend group. If only there had been another life.

"Ohh, Binky Boy couldn't sleep hmm." A laugh crossed his lips as he wiped his face with his shirt. For a second showing off the bare skin of his chest. A musculair but heavily scarred chest. So scarred there was barely any hair growing on it thanks to all the 'new' tissue. Not that Achilles minded that so much. If he was in need of hair to look manly that would be a sad fact. The near giant didn't need anything to look manly. And on the other side, he actually thought that it gave some extra charisma. Breaking other peoples lives and souls while being so broken himself. He could almost see himself as a robin hood for the wicked.

"The night's been good. You might want to do a new citizen count after this though. They are roaming around here as well." His grin widened a bit as he stepped towards Thriumph. Knowing this man knew exactly what he ment. Achilles was often alone, but not always and when his companions came along hell would be breaking loose. "Talking about that. Your pay is due." He narrowed his eyes his usual grin dissapearing into a serious face. "Keeping that idiot 'somewhat' save is harder than it seems. You Medici's are easily hurt. And it would be such a shame if I would not get my payment and something were to happen to your precious family member hmm." He licked his lips showing off his fangs. "My lord would be most pleased with an Medici member though. Don't you think.." The threat was clear in his voice as he laughed a bit colder laying an arm around Thriumph's shoulder. "And I'm ofcourse not talking about you Binky Boy. Who would lead this country without you. Nobody is here to help you, they're all trying to kill you. Even your precious protected piece of meat." He loved reminding Thriumph of his little situation. With no heir and the entire family power hungry he wasn't quite save. Honestly it suprised Achilles that he wanted someone else protected and not himself. But then again, all those Medici's seemed to be idiots.

Thriumph

Many that would have seen the man would turned on their heels right back from the direction they came from. No, it weren’t the animals that made these forests especially as dark as they were, it were more dangerous creatures that imposed the silence, claiming it as theirs. And they were luring, Thriumph knew it. The man stood up, letting his enormous height show. It was a huge man to see, as automatic Thri’s head turned with the movement up, not letting that little grin fade a single bit. His posture on the nonchalant side, but never losing focus, although he had his agreements with Achilles and the cult, being perfectly save was never an option.

The words that came from the man made him smile a moment. He still didn’t know where his nickname came from exactly, but he took it with a little bit of humor. ’Ah,’ He responded while shaking his head, ’well I needed to see new faces anyways.’ He almost got bored between his countless of meetings, and seeing new faces meant new mind games to be played. Besides that, it was something he had warned for and if people were stupid enough to ignore that they could face the facts themselves. As he spoke again Thriumph saw the grin disappear with his icy blue eyes and could guess already what was up. He sighed hearing the enormous man out. His words seemed lightly said, but it was clear there were enough warnings in them, and they weren’t false. ’That blithering idiot.’ Thriumph responded to the man, shaking his head once more.

Staring back up to Achilles he let his grin show up a bit more again. ’Wicked runs along in the Medici blood.’ He pointed out, it was clear in him and his brother. And Aeron had made it obvious for the rest of Fallen Skies by burning half of the country. You could go along the history books of the Medici-line and it would always turn out on the same thing. Thriumphs lips curled up towards a sarcastic smile, Achilles knew in what kind of situation he was in, and knew exactly where it hurts. ’You almost seem surprised I’m still alive.’ He said as sarcasticly. ’What do I owe you for that idiot?’ Thri finally came back to point, holding back the sarcasm again.

His darkened eyes saught those of the King. Even if Thriumph was so highborn he was still nothing in the eyes of the undead. Achilles didn't fear nor care for the man. He was a source of income and entertainment mostly. Their relationship was quite simple actually. Achilles kept his idiotic brother away from any real danger and Thriumph payed for it. It almost seemed logical, untill you realised what Thriumph actually payed with.

A chuckle left his lips as he licked his lips. "New faces you say." He began turning around, walking back to the still somewhat bleeding corpse. "I think I understand what you mean yes." He kneeled down by the boy, set his fingers almost gingerly behind the mans ear before he ripped his entire face of in a smooth movement. Leaving nothing but muscle and flesh behind. A proud smirk crossed his face as he turned around with the lump of skin in his hands. Holding it up for the king to see. "Here you go. A new face." He simply trew it towards Thriumph, knowing he'd catch it. After all. Who would be stupid enough to deny such a well thought out, loving gift from one of his kind?

"Ofcourse I am suprised you're alive. You got three girls running for your throne. If I were you I'd be shaking in my boots." Laughing once again broke the silence as Achilles walked up to the man and trew his heavy arm around him, still covered in blood. He leaned a bit towards him so his face would be on the same line as Thri's was. "Well Binky Boy. Since your dearest brother found a new interest in keeping some little girl save, or well. Setting her up against you probably. Will bring him closer to death, which means the normal price goes up." He chuckled softly staring him in the eye.

"How well does your precious country do with virgins?"

Thriumph

There was a reason Thriumph was alone in the earliest of mornings, standing in the dark forest just outside of D’auvignon. He prepared well for those little “spontaneous” trips, knowing who of the guards watched and where the people were. Or in particular, where his so called guest were and what they would even do in the night. Thri ensured that nobody saw him leave, and that he would stay unseen until he was back in his quarters ready for the morning breakfast. No what he did was strictly secret, making his own deals with the man. Deals that would cause, civil wars if anyone found them out. A direct chaos that would probably mean the end of his reign, if he hadn’t made his plans and backups.

His attention went back up to the man in front of him. Closely he looked when the man walked towards the corpse, watching the sinister move that caused the dead man to lose his face. Frowning he could only grin a little bit before letting that expression fade when Thri understood he was supposed to grab the piece of skin. But before he could even deny Achilles threw the thing, leaving only the sharp reflexes at work. Grimacing he caught the piece, with still fresh blood dripping off it. Holding it for him he turned his head to look more closely to it. ’Ah, beautiful,’ The man responded, quickly switching strategy. ’Maybe I’m even going to wear it.’ He looked very serious for a moment before he burst in a small laughter. While shaking his head he let his blue eyes glide from the face to Achilles. ’When don’t you surprise me?’ He said after. No he wasn’t fond of bloody situations, but he certainly wasn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty in the process.

The next words coming from the man made him laugh for a moment again. ’Don’t you see I’m shivering in fear already?’ He thought about the ones Achie meant, and shook his head again. All three of them didn’t stand a change, even though they were so convinced of themselves. Or not, that was the part it was getting funny. ’Well at least one of them is running from D’auvignon, so that one scares me the most.’ His arrogance showed through with sarcasm in his voice. But his mind went serious again talking about the deal itself. ’When is he going to make it easier?’ He sighed, knowing the man in front of him would gladly profit of the whole thing. ’Well fine, surely he wants to set someone up against me, when was the time he didn’t plan on that?’ Thriumph gave in, his eyes searching through those of Achie again. ’Depends on how you want them, I’m certain we can make an appropriate deal.’

His smirk was almost not able to dissapear as the man accepted his brand new friend 'face'. the poor boy would have to deal with it but something told him that Thriumph wouldn't mind at all. The guy had already been dead and now he had a brand new gift he couldn't show a single soul. "I just want to show my favorite friend how much I care for him." He laughed and crossed his bloody arms.

Normally Achilles was all up for fun but today was all business. He stared at the king with darkened eyes. "You'll be more worried when those two Tenebrae boys join in with them.Though they fuck themselves up together as well.." He warned him coldly as he crossed his arms. "The cult is always in need of blood. One way or another. Virgins have a speciall.. flavor." He smirked looking up at him. "Send me 3. I'll choose one. Every 3 months." He smirked cold. "On top of the original price ofcourse."

Thriumph

The connection Thriumph had with Achilles could be called simple, yet complex. The understanding between the two was as simple as it could be. They both knew where they stood with each other, and in this situation there was a simple trading going on. But aside from that, Achilles was a monster. To be exact, he was the monster of the monsters, him als part of the cult that stood on top of the whole other food chain that rose above the one that ruled the normal, natural and even human food chain. Precisely that meant that if Achie wanted to, he would kill the man easily, surpassing the natural top. And with that he would get away with it, which topped the monarchy one. Still, he didn’t kill Thri, and that made it complex at the same time. And with that, where many would have years of nightmares getting a freshly torn off face thrown at them, Thri had seen worse, no he would rather be the nightmare itself. He would wash the blood of his hands and go through his normal day.

The playful words of him had a good response of Achilles. It told him he made the right decision in strategy and had a little bit of fun at the same time. ’Ah I’m your favorite now?’ Thri pulled an eyebrow, still grinning from before, responding to the words Achie said. Seeing the expression fade into a more serious one he let his grin slide into his own serious face. Keeping that small grin as he gazed in the dark eyes of the man. ’I’ll definitely need to handle those yes.’ He agreed to the little warning the man gave, but grinned at the last words. ’It’s always fun when a brothers want to fuck up each other.’ Thri said sharply, knowing the sentence didn’t only worked for the Tenebrae’s. The next words of Achie made him look up towards the pitch black eyes of the man. ’Maybe the sheer innocence makes them taste more sinful.’ Letting the small arrogant smile cross over his lips again. ’You’ll get the 3 extra, how would you want them this time?’ He made the deal, but lured for the details now. He knew Achie knew about his little ability to play tricks on their minds. ’And more of the usual, I’ll fix that.’ He leaned back to a tree, keeping that small grin on his face. Yes there was a reason he was all alone, maybe he enjoyed this way more than he should.

His darkened eyes faded as soon as the man agreed to all his requests. Thriumph was so easy in so many ways. He enjoyed the darker side of life. Wanted to belong with the big boys just as much. Wanted power and in the.. monsterous way that is. All Achilles needed to do was hold out a piece and this man would take an entire hand. It was so easy and in that way. Yes the man was his favorite little subject.

He nodded coldly and crossed his arms while a smirk krept up on his lips. "I need a place to stay for the comin few days. I'm taking it you're house is always open to your best of friends is it not?' He laughed softly. "And don't worry I won't take drinks that are not mine."

He nodded as if it was completely normal for them to have these plesent little sleepovers. It was quite the opposite actually. Achilles had made some.. problems around Nymmerwell and needed to lay low till those rumors faded away. "Then you can immediatly hold up to your first payment now doesnt that sound nice." He laughed coldly and walked past the man looking around the darkened streets. "I do hope I won't stand out too much in the palace? I can have a quite.. big reaction by some people. I can honestly never understand why anyone would react that way to me."

Thriumph

Leaning back into a nearby tree, Thriumph made himself somewhat comfortable. Surely he could never really relax with any members of the cult, but he was quite close with the huge man in front of him. By that he could add that he was handy for Achie which made it easier for him to be alive. Beside that was the fact that only the man in front of him understood how it was to kill a person, and having fun with it along the way. Of course there were more, but having much contact with those was risky and dangerous. Not to mention the fact that some were idiots who exposed themselves way too easy, not so great if your rule shatters around that.

Thriumph raised a brow while hearing the words of the man, his curiosity coming to play immediately. ’Oh oh oh, what did you do?’ He asked, his blue eyes searching like they always did. Shaking his head he grinned a little bit. ’I’ll fix your drinks, and grand you a room in the castle.’ Thri said after, his mind trying to plan everything already. This needed to run very smoothly, but he could also gain some advantage out of it, only if he did it correctly. He knew Achie wasn’t taking no for an answer, so he made sure he’d know the whole deal.

Raising his brows even more as Achilles just assumed it would be okay, he shook his head and pushed himself off of the tree he was leaning against. ’It always sounds nice for you, yeah.’ He nodded, letting a small smile glide over his face again. ’You do remember that daughter of the baroness last time, don’t you.’ He gestured to the last time the man came over for a couple of nights. It was a reminder just as much as a little warning, though he knew Achilles must have had a lot of fun that night. ’Took me ages to get that straight.’ While looking towards the man again he glanced at the pitch blackness of his eyes, seeing the reaction after the words he said. ’No that’s a huge mystery for me as well,’ Thri sarcasticly said, gazing as sarcastic. ’You look like such an huggable man, you totally don’t look threatening with that height of yours, nah.’ He kept his eyes on him as he began to make way to his horse, expecting Achie would follow.

Only in their last moments
one shows his true nature

His darkened eyes kept focussed on the king of Navarre. His manners seemed to let a little loose around the edges. Showing the true nature of the monster beneath the skin.

Achilles loved to poke at the man made monster. His father, brothers, even his daughter had made him the way he was today. Just as crooked as any one of them. But with a nicer mask to hide the burned edges.

"Oh well it always takes long to clean up blood. You know what they say. Better remove the boards and replace them than try and clean it." He laughed cold and shook his head with a ever present smirk curling around the edges of his lips.

"I am a man of many talents. Being friends with one is sadly not one of them." He narrowed his eyes a bit and shook his head slowly. Not making friends, not keeping people alive. Not eating people.. It were quite a lot of 'nots' that he couldn't do. Then again, what was to be expected of someone with his style and reputation.

As the man made his way towards his horse Achilles took one last look at the now faceless civilian. It was quite a shame. With his face he would've been loved by the ladies. Now he was dead in a ditch. ripped apart at the seems. As they all were in one way or another. Achilles just showed the true nature of someone behind their smiles and faded eyes.

Stepping onwards he let the darkness cloak him again. Making him almost impossible to spot he choose to only show himself in some dim lights to Thriumph. But he'd walk into the palace undetected.

Like stalking his prey the large man moved silently. Keeping his eyes focussed in front of him. Realising he hadn't spoken a word to Thriumph about the question of what he had done. It didn't matter. It was something not destined for his ears anyway. And soon he would find out either way. Humanity would find out. But only when it was too late.

.Thriumph Medici.
with flesh and blood, I commanded an army

What may be the most unsettling thing was the fact that Thriumph found resemblance in the way Achilles was. Maybe it was because he understood the way of thinking, maybe he was used to it all along. Both of the reasons were very dark and kept secret to anyone that couldn’t handle that. The words coming from the man made him grin for a moment. ’It does keep my castle fresh and new, indeed.’ He thought about the times he had renewed the rooms. Almost all of them had bloodstains that were so big carpets didn’t do the job.

Slowly making his way towards his horse he heard the man speak for the last time. ’You have so many fun talents, it would be a shame if that would be wasted on being a friend and keeping everyone alive.’ Thri knew he didn’t answer his question earlier, and decided to leave it that way. If it would concern him he would hear it at the time anyways, and that left him with something to do if he got bored again.

As the two walked towards the castle again, the subtle dusk was getting visible. Right as he planned he returned again, without anyone noticing he had left. It was the perfect time, everyone was asleep, and no one would know if there was a secret little guest. Thriumph turned his head, his icy blue eyes scanning the air left of him. Not much was to be seen, except for some shimmer of a light that reflected to him. There were no words needed to get the results they needed.

A soft click was hearable as the door fell back into its lock. The room was quite big and had the luxury he demanded for his guest. There was just a small thing, his companion needed to like it too. ’Will this suit your desires?’ Was the simple question he asked to get to know just that. ’So what are the plans here exactly?’ He asked after, turning his body towards his again. ’Except enjoying your payments ofcourse.’

As the conversation went on the man grew even less and less interested in keeping it up anymore. Achilles had other things on his mind. A thousand thoughts running wild inside of his brain. Each one fighting with eachother over what to listen to first.

He wanted to shut Thriumph up on multiple occassions. But doing so might result in some, rather nasty, results. Which he would have to go and explain again to his master. Not something where he was looking forward to, to say the least.

So he let the king ramble on. Letting him enjoy the 'company' Achilles provided for him and just ignored the tingling sensation of wanting to rip his face of.

Not that it was really anything where Thriumph was at fault. Achilles was just someone who'd easily rip someones face off. As shown just minutes before. Thriumph was just playing too much right now. Making himself a easy victim too damn fast.

Once inside the castle the man stared around the room that was given him. If he was of normal height the room would already feel not that royal. But seeing his enormous size it was almost like a joke was being played on him. Giving him such a room.

"Medici, you, nor any mortal would ever be able to suit my desires." He groaned soft his voice thick with a darkened anger ment for no one in particular. So instead of anserwing the man much more he walked into the room and crossed his arms. Still holding his back towards him. "If I decided to reveal you my plans, it would't be much of a suprise anymore when you found out would it not be?"

This time with a refound grin he turned around to stare at the king of Navarre. "Just relax. I am merely going to collect my payment. I would pull any other fun.. tricks, I assure you." He leaned back against the post of the bed and stared at him. Wondering if he had understood his silent commands or not.

.Thriumph Medici.
with flesh and blood, I commanded an army

The way towards the castle wasn’t a long one, since Thriumph was just out of the gates of his city. The woods had faded over to the city bricks quickly, and there the silent part of the little trip was. The alleys were completely neglected, soon they would be filled with plenty of men. Starting up the early markets Navarre had daily. But now everyone still had their doors shut, knowing that there wasn’t anyone around anyways. So the man just walked on, having the strong feeling he was watched by someone that was luring from the shadows. In fact there was a man who did that exact thing, so he ignored the feeling that made many very nervous. It made him think about how the ones felt that were haunted by Achilles, the monster in disguise.

Once in the room Thri needed to keep his face straight, since the man was enormous there wasn’t much of a change that he would quite fit under the roof of the chambers the castle had. Hearing the angry words he pulled a corner of his mouth but decided not to answer Achilles, since they were true. The next words the man told Thriumph made him pull his brow, almost frustrated. Occasionally he knew everything and accordingly he wanted to know everything, and not getting what he wanted always was a little struggle. His face flattened out again, glazing into the dark pits of his friend. ’Fine, fine.’ Thri said without any emotion in his voice. He’d find out, if he didn’t it was for the better, and if he did it would be too late anyways. ’I’ll leave you then, expect the first part of your payment soon.'

With that the man turned around and walked out the room, closing it after. He called a couple of guards to watch for the room and make sure there wouldn’t be anyone in there who didn’t had business there. If so he had to explain even more than he should be doing now, and that were the last of his expectations. ’Yes, that girl? Make sure she gets here as soon as possible.’ The man lashed out to one of the scouts that had been unfortunate enough to walk by at this moment. Making sure that when he checked back in, it wasn’t emptyhanded.
