what is dead may never die
With a cranky expression on his face, Romeo was on his way to the harbor. He was annoyed as hell and his pace was quick and fierce. Luckily everyone who saw him coming, jumped out of the way as soon as they saw his bright amber eyes gazing at them. His patience was non-existing and at this point he wouldn’t hesitate to stab someone who dared to cross his path. His very first trip had gone horribly wrong. At first there was no problem at all. They had entered and boarded a merchant ship. The crew had been defenceless against his troops and in no-time they had overpowered the other crew.
As they were emptying the ship’s hold, another ship had appeared on the horizon. Immediately they had abandoned the merchant ship, preparing to defend themselves against the new privateer ship. The following battle had been much more intense and his ship had taken a lot of damage. They had barely made it to shore. So now he was on his way to a ship builder one of his crew members had recommended. Before he entered the shop, he took some deep breaths. He couldn’t go in looking like he came to commit a murder. When he finally got himself under control again, he walked in, shouting a greeting to announce his presence.

but in all chaos there is calculation dropping glasses just to hear them break The brunette girl heaved a deep sigh. She was busying herself in the backroom of the shop, doing some paperwork. Needless to say, it wasn't her favourite thing in the world. However, it was necessary for everything to run smoothly, and so she always made sure she would do it on time. It was one of the things that helped shape her reputation of simply being good. Some people even went as far as to call her genius, which she couldn't help but agree with. Brightwater Keep was lucky to have someone like her, that's for damn sure. She had noticed someone was in her shop before they made their presence known, as the front door had a little creak and she hadn't had time to fix it yet. A yell for her attention quickly followed, and she silently thanked the lords for giving her a break and allowing some human interaction instead. Not that she really believed in any greater presence, but it was never a bad idea to keep them friendly, just in case. She stacked her papers, shoved them to the side and abandoned her task to finish later. She walked to the front, slightly limping as she went. "Hi. What can I help you with?" she said as she walked in. The figure before her was not someone she had met before, meaning he probably wasn't from Brightwater Keep. Or maybe he was and had simply never needed her before. He definitely looked a little rough, with tattoos painted all over his body as far as she could tell, so maybe he was even a pirate. Hm. She'd never really cared if she were honest, as long as her clients paid her on time she was fine with whomever. |

His boat wasn’t the only thing that had been dealt some damage during the fight. Of course he was a skilled fighter. He knew how to defend himself and how to use a sword properly. He didn’t carry it around as decoration. Sadly he wasn’t invincible though. Some idiot had managed to slice his arm with a knife. It had been bleeding for hours afterwards, and he had to change the bandages every fifteen minutes. Now it had stopped, but he had lost a lot of blood. Nothing a good meal and a nap couldn’t fix though. His damaged pride was a whole other thing. His ship had been towed into the harbor and tied up to a scaffold. Like a wounded animal bleeding out, for everyone to see. He could almost feel his heart ache. That’s why he wanted it to be fixed as soon as possible.
Thank the Drowned God his call was answered quickly. A woman walked out of what seemed to be an office in the back of the shop. "Hi. What can I help you with?" She asked him. Romeo observed her for a minute. She had to be some kind of assistant, hired to do paperwork and deal with the customers while the shipbuilder was working on some boats. ”I’d like to talk business with the shipbuilder. Could you tell me where to find him?” He asked, his voice a low grumbling tone. His hand was holding on to the hilt of his sword, in an attempt to keep his calm.

but in all chaos there is calculation dropping glasses just to hear them break The more she studied him, the more certain she became that there was no way that she knew him. Surely she would remember someone like him, who seemed to eradiate nothing but pure rage. She had noticed it the second she'd heard him come in, with loud stomps that made the trinkets on her shelves jingle with fear, but it had become even more evident when he started to speak. His voice was low and strained, as if he was trying to contain himself. For a second she wondered what could have happened that made him so enraged, but that was before she realised what he had said. Could you tell me where to find him. If there was one sentence you shouldn't say to her, it would be that. On some days, it would even be enough to make her enraged, but for some reason she felt that today was not the best day for that. So she told herself that this was her customer and it was an honest mistake (which didn't keep her from swiftly rolling her eyes, but really, she should be allowed some sort of reaction). "You happen to be speaking to her." she retorted, voice sharp and clear. She didn't know how many times she had had to defend herself in this way, didn't want to know as it was probably an embarrassingly high number. However, in spite of the annoying and slightly sexist route the conversation had taken, it had taught her one thing that could be incredibly valuable: He wasn't from here. He couldn't be, otherwise he would know about the female shipbuilder with the broken leg. This also meant that he would probably want to leave as soon as possible, so he really needed her. And that she could use. |

what is dead may never die
It was one of those days where he just couldn’t push away his anger. Normally he’d never come to town like this. His otherwise perfectly tailored fake personality didn’t fit him today. For once his true colours were shining through. This was the real Romeo and he wasn’t even trying to hide it. Unfortunately for this little assistant, he had also lost his patience somewhere at sea the other day. If he felt like she was wasting his time, he’d probably snap at her. Not even because he had a problem with her personally, but because he had a lot of problems with everyone today. But of course she’d take it personally, and he wouldn’t apologise. Offending her was pretty easy, apparently. He wasn’t even trying right now, but he already had said something wrong.
"You happen to be speaking to her." She snapped back. It took him by surprise. Why did nobody warn him? He wouldn’t have gone to this shop if he had known that. Even though she was dubbed ‘the best in town’. It was just contradicting with his faith. She would have to prove herself to him before he’d ever have respect for her. No matter how notorious her skills were. ”Great”, He growled softly, totally not feeling like dealing with this. ”Then let’s not waste any more of my time and get on with it”, He spoke, his voice trembling a bit while he tried to hold back his anger.

but in all chaos there is calculation dropping glasses just to hear them break The surprise was clearly written on his face, which caused a smug smile on hers. He wasn't the first to underestimate her and even though it was annoying, it also meant that he was expecting quality. Which really was some sort of compliment in its own way. He, however, really didn't seem to enjoy the situation, so she decided not to push it. She wasn't sure if it was something she had said, but she assumed it couldn't be, as he seemed to be so angry that she couldn't imagine it was all due to the fact that she was a girl. "I agree," she started, "hence my question. What can I help you with?" She really tried to keep things civil, but god, she couldn't deny the fact that she had the feeling it could become difficult. |

Would he let a woman take care of his ship? In normal circumstances, no. But he didn’t feel like going out on the streets again, looking for another shop. He just couldn’t be bothered. This day was already a disaster, he might as well go through with it. As long as she didn’t anger his God by saying or doing something stupid, he’d cope with it. He just wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. So he made clear she shouldn’t waste his time, in a quite rude way. It was stupid how his mood had turned just because of the set back he had experienced. And how he let his mood affect him so much. But he couldn’t help it. His past had shaped him and he had turned out to be like this, and today it was not his turn to deal with it.
"I agree," She said, "hence my question. What can I help you with?" She continued. It was a good thing she was at least cooperating with him right now, considering she could as well kick him out for being rude. ”I had to fire my master carpenter a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t found replacement yet”, He begun his explanation. By ‘firing’ he meant ‘leaving him in the jungle to be killed by predators’, but that he would keep to himself for now. ”My ship is badly damaged and I need someone to supervise the repairs, as the remaining crew is not capable of doing it by themselves”, He continued, explaining the job he had in mind for her. Saying it out loud made it even worse. Who would ever trust a woman to be in charge over something related to a ship?
