Your heart is not a fragile, delicate bird
but a resilient, powerful hawk learning to fly.

Wind pulled on her dark hair and clothes. Making the fabric dance on it's own rithm as the middle aged woman stared over the sea. They were in the northern part of Falkreath as result of a small traveling party through the territory to make sure the 'peace' was kept. Resulting in long days of horseback riding and nights in a crappy tent with an irritated husband.

The woman could think of a thousand better ways to spend her time but she hadn't been allowed to stay behind at home and was forced to come along. Or well. Ofcourse not completely forced her husband hadn't put a leash around her to take her along but it did feel that way. Ever since she had said the word 'yes' on that faithfull day she had been bend down and chained up in an iron grip named loyality.

She had married when she was 18. The age her daughter would soon be. To a man who was atleast 10 years her senior and a monster at that. In her years with him she had seemed to melt some of the ice around his heart with the needed bumps and pain filled moments. As their daughter was born a year after their marriage he couldn't stand even touching Delaney. Cursing her for existing and not having the male parts he required. As she birthed him three more sons he calmed his storms. Especially when he found out Del had more of a warrior heart than any other. But still she could not trust him.

Her daughter was 16. Already bleeding and a full grown woman. She couldn't put her faith in that the Viking Jarl wouldn't marry his daughter off ot some stranger as her father had done.

Making sure that her daughter would grow up save and healthy. Marrying a man she loved, was perhaps the only reason Zephyra had never tried to escape the clutches of her husband. He would hunt them down. Kill them or even worse.. He was capable of terrible things. Desires darker than even the devils ran through his system and if you crossed him you'd have to deal with the rage of a thousand storms. There was only one way to save herself, her children and live a somewhat happy life and that was keeping the monster well fed with other desires. So she bend her knee for him and accepted all his grills. Speaking of love untill she had, a few years ago, actually started believing that she indeed loved the man.

It were moments like these, where she stood alone with her back to the world that she had to remind herself what she felt. Or, what she wanted herself to feel and what she should do. What he was capable of and what she could never see him as. He would never be a real good husband. He would never take care of her and love her as she wanted him to. It was not in his system to do so. His DNA was as rotten as his judgement and she didn't love him. Dear god she couldn't love him. And yet she did. She craved for the monster inside of him. The bear trapped ready to unleash his hell. She wanted to feed it and let it take her over. She wanted to burn in his claws of fire.

She loved the monster she had sworn to destroy.

Viking.

Ragnvald had given his companions the order to set up a camp so they could rest for the night. His eyes stood dark and haunting. Life had been given him many choices. Some he had regret, others... he would simply choose them again and do it all over, many scars drawn on his body from the battles that he fought and the villages that he took over. With every city they took the jarl became more greedy and less careless. He had tasted the feeling of victory. And ever since it started he never quit.

The jarl dismount from his horse and placed the stallion in a pen. Turning his gaze around for his wife he saw that she was nowhere to be found. For a moment the man sighed, she was no little girl like 16 years ago anymore, she could take care of herself. But still. He had to take his responsibility and take care of her. The man turned himself around towards his most loyal companion.Baelon his voice was sharp. Could you see too that the camp is set up properly? I have to take care of some things. Was his demand for him. Although he could be harsh. Baelon was someone he had trusted for many many years. And he was not only a companion to the jarl anymore.

Ragnvald took the reins of the stallion again and pushed himself up on top of the dark brown stallion. Before he knew he pushed the stallion into a little trot and left the camp. It was a rather short walk as he saw the silhouette of the woman appear on the horizon. After all these years he knew exactly where she would go. Some would call it obsessive, other would call it overprotective. Ragnvald was neither of these two things so he though.

He knew he would find her here. Being alone was a relieve for her sometimes.. and he could only agree on that. As he was close enough to her he stopped the horse and jumped off it. Letting the reins slip through his fingers he moved the horse forward behind him.

He could see and feel that: after all these years. he could never satisfy her happiness. Vald could never make her happy as any other man would. For a moment he closed his eyes and let history repeat in his mind. He could see it clearly.. almost 16 years ago they stood before the altar. Making their vows, swearing that they would protect each other forever.

Do you Ragnvald Mord Staekar son of Thorvald before all these witnesses here gathered take this woman Zephyra Helene Naess Daughter of Azazel as your loyal wife. To have and to hold from this moment, until death aparts you? While the priest spoke these words Vald pointed his face again on hers I swear with the gods as my witnisses Vald replied. And do you Zephyra Helene Naess daughter of Azazel take this man Ragnvald Mord Staekar son of Thorvald as your husband. To have and to hold to serve him and obey him from this moment, until death aparts you.I do zephyr replied

They may not have been the ideal couple at first. But when they had to say their vows Ragnvald had felt a certain feeling of joy and happiness. But that feeling had disappeared during the years that came. and it had made place for a much more 'comfortable' feeling.

The jarl pointed his blue eyes for a moment on the horizon. Large waves that represents his life where crashing against the rocks and cliffs that surrounded them. His blue eyes focussed on every movement of the sea. But in a short time he grew bored of it and turned his gaze towards Zephyra.I knew I would find you here, my beautiful wife. He spoke the words.. harsh.. like he was talking to a victim. Just as he was.

"Fate whispers to the viking, 'you cannot withstand the storm' and the viking whispers back 'i am the storm'"

Her silent moments of loneliness and isolation were always shortlived. It was either one of her children or her husband who came to find her and tear her away from the glimpse of freedom that could never leave the edge of her mind.

Considering that she could've been sold of as a slave to some madman she had ended up 'lucky'. She was sold off as a breeding pet for the son of a great Jarl. Which was just a fancy name for a madman in charge of other madmen. It was almost comical how she was supposed to be happy. Consider that she was lucky and that she was unhappy while so many other young woman like her were off way worse. Atleast Vald kept his monsterous behaviour in the bedchaimber and acted like she had some sort of meaning to his life out in the open.

The hard part with having a great warrior like Ragnvald as husband was that each and every slip he had. Each second he showed somekind of emotion could be considered as false or another way to sneer her up. She could not trust his words even if he sounded as honest as a newborn babe.

He spoke to her as if to a pet. Harsh and without emotion or love. The harsh winters and cold enviroment had made him just as icy from birth. In the first years she had tried to change his view of life. Hoped she could somehow make him fall in love with the warmth and hope she had to share. She had been a child and now she could see him for what he truly was.

Empty.

Only able to fill himself with greed and lust. Her father had truly hated her all those years ago. Knowing exactly what the man back then was already capable of and what he would become.

"Of course my love." She reacted with the same harsh tone. However much she felt, how scared and alone she may be. He wouldn't see it. It would be considered a weakness and he'd tear it away from her like so many other emotions she was used to feeling.

They were now blocks of ice clashing against eachother on the current they called life. Poetic in a certain way. Mostly just painful and dull.

"Do you ever wonder as well. What's behind the clouds." A small smile lingered on her face as she moved her head up. "Some speak of heaven. Other's of another earth.. I wonder which would be more true. In a land like this. No heaven could excist." The last words were barely a whisper as she furrowed her brows turning her head towards her husband. "And an upside down verison of our world also seems to sound like a fairytale." Who knew. Perhaps the upside down version of them would consider their lives peaceful an nice. Loving eachother like the chance she and Ragnvald could've had. Perhaps that version had stayed inside a cave, like they had nearly done so many years ago. Would that have made them happy themselves as well? Who knew.

Thinking about the possibility was saddening. But yet felt so secure that she almost wished she could've seen a future where they could've been.

Viking.

For a moment he pointed his eyes back on the stallion. The reins still holding in one hand. The silence that layed as a blanket over the two of them made it even more painful. Ragnvald turning his gaze away from the steed and made a step towards his wife. Placing his rather large hand around the back of her neck onto her curled raven hair. He longed for the pride she hold in her eyes, and power she hold with her tongue. It was in the questions she asked, calm and collected. But with a certain curiousness as well. There where times when he was imagining she was even real. And not some creation of his dirty minds. The jarl washed his thoughts away and didn’t need to think long about an answer. Valhalla. He simply replied. as it was for him. Behind those clouds, those radical formations in the sky lied the valley of forgiveness, understanding, and women. Ruled over by the god Odin, together with his son Thor. Valhalla was known to many vikings and they all longed for it until the day they would give their last breath.

As she continued her words he listened. And as she moved her head up he followed her. His light brown eyes following the horizon until he watched the clouds together with her. People know nothing. Most people are useless. he almost hissed as he let his hand glide through her hair. For Ragnvald there was only one god, and that god must be Odin. All others must be false.

And for a moment he wondered how much she valued him as a “human” being. He also wondered how many victims he had made after these several years of travelling, fighting and slaughtering. His mind was. Is a maze. A collection of several unanswered questions and thoughts he wants to be solved. But is too afraid to ask. Too afraid to show his weakness and snap back at something vulnerable and weak.  He hadn’t meant to hurt her, did not mean to give her a life like this. But it happened and he had roamed the world long enough to never let his guard down. He loved her, even was it in his own silly way.

As the cold wind brushed against his face he glanced back at Zephyra. You are overthinking too much, woman. He spoke with a heavy voice. We do only put our faith in Valhalla. As it is our faith and ours alone. Before he even realised Ragnvald had turned his body towards hers and pinched his fists to take a hold on himself. People see us as pagans, thieves and wildlings. But we are not. We are not less than them. No. We are greater. He glanced. Look what we have acomplished in all these years.. an all of it because we believed Valhalla would be good for us in the afterlife. It was, what he truly believed in. Some people would see him as a mad man. But Ragnvald was just desperately clutched towards his faith. To Odin and the afterlife.

"Fate whispers to the viking, 'you cannot withstand the storm' and the viking whispers back 'i am the storm'"

She knew it had been a bad choice to start a conversation about faith with this man. If there was one thing he believed in beside blood it was Valhalla and it's holy rule. She herself couldn't deny it sounded inviting, or well, for someone as great as her husband. But she herself had to wonder wether or not there would be a place for someone born and raised like her in the temple of the great warriors who died on the battlefield. She wouldn't see a battle in her lifetime, Vald would make sure of that. So what was there to see for her. Maybe there was a kitchen in Valhalla where Odin would find she'd fit.

"There are many wise men" and woman. "In the south my love. Many who spend hours upon hours debating which belief is right or if it ever may excist at all." She looked almost a bit dreamy over the water. "And all the problems and options they face are nothing like ours. We fight over land and blood. They play chess and worry about wether their outfit has enough gold on it." She wasn't about to deny that she would love to live a life as peaceful as that but as she saw his balled up hand she quickly took a small step back. Retracing her words making sure her next ones would ease his anger again.

"Fools if you ask me indeed." She chuckled somewhat uncomfortable as her smile faded away into a harsh line and she leaned back again searching the safety of her horse. "But one still has to wonder wether all this bloodshed will grand you a chair by Odin's side." She spoke softly more to herself than to anyone in paticular. Her husband liked his bloodshed. Probably more than sex. So he wasn't gonna give that up. Even if it would destroy his chances of a good seat in the afterlife.

Placing her hand softly on his she bit her lip hoping to get his thoughts somewhere else. Somewhere saver for her sanity. "How are the kids love? Delaney is overjoyed that you're training with her." She smiled softly hopeful and loving. Their little daughter, Vald had only touched her, maybe once, untill she had turned four and actually grabbed his sword to get his attention. And she had gotten it, nearly killing herself multiple times in the progress. Del held the fierce power she could never have and even if Vald hated that his oldest born was a girl he couldn't deny her warrior heart. Or her rightful place as his heir. Jarl Delaney. Heh, who knew, woman would be able to do something in this cold barren land after all.

Viking.

She tried, he could not deny that she tried to convince her faith in Odin or in Valhalla. But he knew that she would never fit there. She was no warrior, no soldier, no fighter. She was a lady. But she was a jarls lady so eventually she will find her way through the lands of the death. Maybe it was time to learn her some things. She might get useful in battle anyway. And if Delaney has the fast learning from her mother it would be fastly done as well.

I have heard of it.. Of the south. Of these sandy terrains and hot weathers. And I would love to plunder their ships and start a riot there. He hissed to himself while smiling. In fact, they could travel south. They had enough ships for all of the men and these men where all trained to be better than any knight in this country. They where trained by Ragnvald and his best 10 men. And anyone who did not obey them or was a lazy student would pay for that. Odin will reward us highly for all the bloodshed we did in his name. As he started talking about it again his eyes grew wider. Blood has always been an obsession to him. The more blood the better. That is why he preferred his axe. It was a heavy weapon but with great damage ranges. From beheading to slicing of limbs. It was just a perfect weapon. And while thinking about it he grinned.

I have heard of a dragon queen also, with raven black hair and a porcelain skin. He had to be honest that he was curious for this “Queen”. And not only because of the country but also the woman behind it. He has heard rumours she bewed one of her kings guards as her King consort. Well.. that would be a pathetic thing. I should meet her one day Even though they where up here in the north. They would never be safe. In every border there was danger. Was it not from the enemy then the many creatures and monsters will treat hen their existence. That is also why they had to travel further before they would stay in the same place for far too long.  But they had to wait for now. Wait until the night would disappear and the sun would light their faces again.

As Zephyra asked about the kids he turned his gaze back for a moment where the camp would be set up. I guess Baelon is taking care of it. Or wel .. at least he tries.

Delaney is a fast learner. But she has to stay focussed and not dig around with other people while she is busy with her training. If she stays behind from the rest I will not let het continue this training. He could not make it up to himself or to anyone to show any sign of weakness. There where sometimes…’offers' had to be made. Even if it was his own daughter.

The jarl turned his face towards Zephyra and stepped in  front of her. With his free hands he grabbed her face and lifted it up a bit so he could look into her eyes. She will become a great leader someday. And after we are old and rotten who knows what will happen to her. Only Odin can tell us. he sighed while pressing his cold fingers gently into her skin. I am glad what you have given me. Showing any sign of affection towards her. Even if it was the most small sign  they where sometimes times that he did showed it.

Your heart is not a fragile, delicate bird
but a resilient, powerful hawk learning to fly.

Her husband was a vile brutal beast. A man made of blood and guts, made to remove other men their blood and guts. It had feared her from the very first day. But as she lived with him she realised she was slowly starting to become just as violent. Only in a different manner. Her mindgames expanded themselves and her coldness sometimes even overgrew his. She had made herself strong the only way she knew how to. She would't be able to win a fistfight or a one on one battle with steel. But words were her weapons and she had guarded herself to the fullest. Against the cold and against all who opposed her.

"The queen sounds like a wonderful person." She smiled softly looking at him wondering what he would think about her. "You'd like her, there are rumors she killed her own father for the throne." A half smirk crossed her lips as she took his arm and leaned a bit against him."We should visit the south once. They tell us of their great ways all the way up here. But for them we are nothing but savage beasts." She stared out over the water, a harder blik in her eyes as she shook her head. "But perhaps it's better that they see us that way. The more afraid the less likely they'll disturb our way of living up here."

Their next subject made her smile at first but the smile soon turned into a frown as she nodded. She could atleast understand this reasoning. If Delaney failed in her trainings she wouldnt be going along with the others. But she was more interested in why her daughter, who wanted nothing more in the world, would ever fail on a training. "I'm sure she'll catch up. I'll talk to her, maybe something is wrong." She narrowed her eyes a bit wondering what it could be but quickly shook away all options. Her daughter did a long, was an idiot at times but in the end her training and her father went above all else in her mind. She wouldn't fall behind of.. normal female matters. Delaney was too hard for herself to let that slip.

Turning towards her husband she slowly let her arms curl around his shoulders and leaned a bit into him a warmer smile on her lips then before. There were still parts of her which hated him to the bone. Nights she layed awake wondering if she could kill him and end it all. But at moments like this where he stared her in her eyes, spoke to her in his honesty she knew she loved him. This man was hers as she was his. He had fallen completely and over the top in love with her. No matter how hard he tried to deny it he couldn't and she wouldn't want him to do so. He was perfect this way. "It was only out of love for you." She smiled softly laying her hand on his cheek. "And I'd do it a thousand times over if that would please you Vald." She whispered honest and true before pressing her lips on his.

Viking.

As zephyra started talking about the queen a slight grin appeared in the corners of his eyes. He loved to look at them. women. Loved to be with them. But that was all before he met her. Before the arrangements has been made with Zephyra her father. Ever since he was married he never looked at women the same way as before. Or maybe it was because everyone knew they had to stay away from Vald. Or else they had some troubles with the jarls wife. That or.

A wonderful person huh? he raised his eyebrow and pointed his face towards her. Since when did you start to call people who kill each others family member for the throne wonderful? with a curious face he watched her. That woman seriously had some secrets around her. Perhaps she did knew more about this murderous queen who killed her own father in order to gain a crown.

I don't know if I will like her he coughed She is exactly the same as all the other royals in this land. Hiding behind their large stones walls and their firearms. They are no warriors like us, they don't know how to kill or how to take a real life without speaking their sentence to the executioner and let him do the work. Ever since the land has been separated and the different countries rised there came so much more people like this. And he hated it. Wars where fought unfairly with all these new machines. We need to start somewhere to take over the country again. Starting with Hillerod. That place has been damned ever since the Skarsgård had invaded it. he balded his fists and with that a loud noise came from the camp. Quickly Ragnvald turned his face away from Zephyra and pointed his face on the camp. As the sky turned orange and large clouds of smoke arise from the ground. The jarls eyes turned wider. Goddmmnd! I knew I shouldn't have left the rest alone! he hissed. Rage turning his voice colder.  We have to get back to the camp! Maybe an ambush? Maybe Maldred was practising his 'magic' skills again.. it could be anything.. But it was not good.

Leaning a bit against her husband she stared up at him. The grin didn't go unnoticed and was met by her own small smirk. She could guess he was thinking about the queen. But in ways that would normally cost you your head. All spread out before him, bowing down to him in.. his sense of the way. He could think all he wanted. Make himself believe that he would get her that way. He wouldn't. Even if this so called queen did 'bow' to him. Zep herself wouldn't allow him that pleasure. No, they were bound together. She and he. And he wouldn't dare take pleasure from another woman. Or else certain organs would loose all their purpose.

Zephyra was a loving mother. A good wife but a jealous woman. She wanted to have what belonged to her. And what belonged to her was he. She was fine with him talking to others ofcourse. It would be weird if she was that obsessive. But they were married. And that ment staying loyal to one and another. And that was something he would never be allowed to break. Otherwise it would be very easily and very quickly over between them. A thought she didn't want to have. But had to admit it kept her up at nights when he was away. Scared that one day she'd find him in the arms of another..

"I may be taking over more from you brutes than I wish to admit." She chuckled at him letting her gaze glide from his face and out over the sea. "Who knows what she's really like. We won't know untill we leave Falkreath and see how this woman behaves. Perhaps she hides. Perhaps she doesn't. Rumors are only rumors untill proven true." She pulled up her shoulders before moving her coat more around her. The wind was pulling on her hair making her shiver in her spot. "Hillerod?" She pulled up a brow looking at him. "You won't win Hillerod with violence. That young lady of theirs is a cunning one. And their walls too high. There must be a smarter way to get an city as ancient as theirs." She narrowed her eyes thinking of an option before his shout pulled her back to reality.

Turning around her eyes grew wide at the sight of flames rising up towards the sky. Immediatly her heart was beating in her throat. The first thought she had of her children who'd be in danger as she jumped on her horse. Making the beast quickly move forward towards the camp. Their entire moment dissapearing from her thoughts. There were more pressing matters.

power is always dangerous
It attracts the worst and corrupts the best
He raised his eyebrow curiously. Maybe he was wrong about her. Maybe she did had more "viking" blood in her then he thought. After all these years. Maybe we don't need to leave Falkreath. Maybe the woman will come here. Although I doubt that because woman and especially queens don't travel that much. I have heard. He grinned heavily while placing his hand in zephyra her neck as she started talking about Hillerod. Yes Hillerod. he began shortly Hillerod is strategically a better spot for us. We can look over the sea and see enemies coming from miles away. And when we look the other way we can look as far as the country spreads. for a moment he moved his hand between her hair and felt the warmth of her skin on his cold hands. The lady is young, she might have a lot of advisors but she is a female and unmarried. She need a strong and cunning leader next to her Zephyra. He continued as he removed his hand from her neck and placed it on te axe. That is why, I want Ivarr to marry her. Ivarr has potential to be a good husband and a leader. he was so sure of his plan. With Ivarr as an influence on lady Freyja Hillerod would be his in no time. I want to leave the other boys open. They are fighters, vikings. And they can become so much more than just a leader. They are build to destroy nations. his voice growling and he pinched in the handle of the axe.

A cold feeling rushed trough his spine once he thought about his plans for the future. It kept haunting him in his dreams until he got crazy of it and woke up covered in sweat and after a few days of not sleeping very well he decided just to stay awake. Ragnvald did not knew why it was bothering him so much, but in the mean time he tried not too think about it too much.

But as the ‘explosion’ broke their contact Ragnvald did not knew how fast he sat on the horse and moved the stallion towards the camp. As they reached closer his eyes grew wide and he pulled the axe from it’s back. Raiders he almost shouted towards Zephyra. They where very known of plundering the camps and villages that where left unguarded. Too bad for them. They had invaded the wrong kind of camp.

Your heart is not a fragile, delicate bird
but a resilient, powerful hawk learning to fly.

Everything had faded away. Nothing was important anymore but getting to the camp as quick as possible. Her eyes flew towards Vald. Painfully realising that she had no weapons on her, neither could she work with them. It was anoying that she was raised as a lady not a warrior. One of the reasons why she wanted her daughter to learn how to fight and survive.

Not that her daughters fighting skill made her any less worried right now. She was terrified for her children's safety.

Quickly she moved on, deciding a plan inside of her mind but her worries left her blanc and she stared at her husband for help. "Where do you want me?" She shouted over the wind staring at him as they came closer. Already able to hear the shouts which made her heart beat in her throat.

power is always dangerous
It attracts the worst and corrupts the best
Ice cold wind blew against the mans face and every vein in his body started to freeze down to the bone. The axe felt heavy but the adrenaline kept him standing. Everything went by as one large blur and he remembered Zephyra asking where she should go. Well maybe to safety, make sure the kids are safe he had thought. And as he turned his body around in the saddle so he could set his gaze on her he shouted “Look for our family”.

What felt like kilometers to him where only a few meters until they both reached the camp. His eyes stood dark and taunting. With a heavy breath he stopped the horse with one hand. Holding the axe in the other hand he searched for his family. And Baelon.
Seeing the raiders overrun the entire camp made his blood boil. Woman screamed, older man’s bleed to death.

Ragnvald leaned to the side of the horse as he pushed the stallion forward. He held his axe high and swing it around over the ground. Slicing a few limbs off from one of the raiders. Blood drenched over the horse it’s body and the mans arm.

His command was clear as day. And within seconds she had moved away from him quickly locating not only her family but also the other woman and children that were traveling alongside them. Even while it was hard to she managed to get their sons to cooperate. Staring around desperatly for their daughter but not being able to locate Delaney between the people. Fear rose inside of her chest while being torn apart between keeping her sons out of sight and herself protected or looking for their daughter.

_____________

Within seconds the raiders had turned their entire camp upside down. Smoke filling up her lungs as they tried to burn down their camp. Taking up her axe and a blade at her side Del quickly got to move. Slashing and taking down every horse, man and plain idiot that got in her way. Dodging weapons while blood splattered on her pearly white skin. Staining her hair in dark crimson. Her eyes stood wild while all her instincts wanted to take over. Searching for her father and brothers in the crowd knowing that seeing them would atleast calm down her raging anger boiling her from the inside out. As she spotted her father on his horse she jumped over a body dodging an axe. "Rangvald!" She shouted over all the other shouts. Knowing he would sooner react to his own name than to a girl shouting dad over the battlefield. As she stared at him, hoping for a reaction an arrow hit her shoulder making her fall over which made her nearly miss a axe that was aimed for her head.

The steed brought him within seconds towards the camp. And for one of the first time in his miserable life he felt a certain fear. Mixed with anger. Pure boiling anger in his veins that had to get out. Once the man entered the camp he searched for his family. Baelon would probably be around them and Delenay was growing stronger with everyday. So they would manage to save themselves or at least stretch some time. His blood was boiling as he saw some of his men and woman being slaughtered in one move he pushed himself off the horse.

Attacking some men that ran towards them. He avoided their swords and sliced their limbs off. Within a few meters he was in the middle of the camp and saw some other of his companions. One thing was in his favour. Vikings where trained for battle. Ragnvald has spend years and years on training them to become better swords and axe men. He grabbed another axe from the ground and shouted Shield wall!!. In a few seconds some of his men joined him and pulled their shields up to block the attacks from incoming arrows and flying axes.

He was so focussed to wipe out the raiders that he almost missed the familiar voice. Vald looked around searching for the girl and once he got her in his eyesight a feeling of relieve overcome him. But as if lightning struck his mind he saw his girl fall over, as an arrow was shot into her shoulder. His mind completely frozen with anger his face turned dark. He moved himself forward and let the men block the other raiders. With every step Vald took he felt the grip around his axe being tightened around the handle. And once he was close enough he threw one of his blades towards the men who shot his girl. Making him scream in pain and fall on the ground.

Vald leaned over Delaney and turned her over on her back. I’ll get you out off here girl he growled. But as soon as he wanted to pick her up from the ground another sword came his way.He could block it with the other axe and stood up again. Avoiding the attempts on slicing him with the sword he was able to slice his axe through the skin of the men’s leg and he fell on the ground.

They broke my wings
but forgot I also carry claws

Pain was not something she wasn't used to. She lived with daily trainings, each one harder than the last one. So the arrow was nothing she really couldn't handle. The only problem was that it was lounged deep into her shoulder. Pushing against her muscles making it harder for her to move her arm and pick up her weapon again.

So instead she lowered herself searching for a way out of the direct danger and get the arrow out.

Before she could however there was a sudden shadow over her. Being turned around she stared up at her father who wanted to pick her up but was stoped mid movement in order to block an attack.

Gasping she pushed herself up, forcing herself through the pain and picked up her own axe with her other hand. Even if she wasn't as capable with her left hand she would have to wield her weapon with it in order to stay alive. Her father couldn't both get her out and get himself out unharmed. Besides that, she had to focus on the reality that if she wasnt able to survive herself she wasn't worth surviving at all.
