West was taught how to wield a weapon at young age, as he had planned to participate in the next conclave. While he disagreed at the time, today he praises himself lucky that there was never a conclave between his twelfth and sixteenth birthday. So, instead, he trained on. With no other plans for the future, the young man settled to follow his father in becoming a weapon smith.

In his early twenties, a young Lexa first came to his door, asking for a dagger in trade of her services. She was but a child at the time, so he asked her for some simple errants. Retrieving something from another trader, getting him something to eat. Simple stuff like that. As time progressed, however, the girl started to grow on him and he started to teach her how to wield a weapon. From daggers to blades and eventually even a spear and a bow. She became the next spark in his life, as she became more of a daughter to him. Even when she started to gain interest from other warriors, getting trained by them too.

To him, it was no surprise that the girl won the Conclave. When the Commander died and she became the next, he kneeled for her and asked her to become her personal guard, which she gladly accepted. He has functioned as her loyal guard for six years now, willing to give his life to save hers.
