Though they didn't know what the creature was, it seemed to have no ill intentions. asher started getting used to the beast's presence and eventually gave him a name; toriko. when about two weeks later, toriko seemed to have disappeared into nothing, asher couldn't help but feel disappointed. he had after all found a friend in toriko. it wasn't until about a year later, when asher was nearly six years old, when toriko appeared once more. asher had fallen of his pony and grazed open his hands and knees on the pebbles. blood had trickled down his arms and then, toriko flew down from the sky, having grown ever so slightly. his father, who had been teaching the small boy how to ride a horse, had seen it all happen and was quick to come to an answer to who and what toriko was. the next few days were spent finding out the what and the how. magic wasn't uncommon in the roosevelt family, catherine and theodore having powers themselves, like their parents and grandparents before them. but this was the first time someone in their family had the gift of summoning. they knew it was an illegal power to have, but try telling that to a six-year-old who was so fond of his friend. for a year they lived life on the low, trying to protect asher from the government. theodore was in conflict, being a somewhat important figure as a commandor of the royal military troops. the choice to quit his job, however, was one easily made. a problem soon arose. toriko was growing on the steady and would soon inevitably be discovered. and so they made a decision, one most hard, and send asher away to rhoynar. not because they didn't love him, for they loved him dearly. it was in fact that very reason. protecting their little boy by sending him to the middle of nowhere in rhoynar, where he could play with toriko undisturbed. asher was seven years old when the move finally happened. the boy was assigned a single caretaker, him being both bodyguard and nanny. christoper adams was a close friend of the family and had served theodore as a soldier before his resignation. christopher and asher had always gotten along quite well and they were like brothers, christopher still being young with his nineteen years. when the pair first arrived in rhoynar, they didn't draw any unwanted attention as they looked just like your average orphan brothers, moving away from their homeland to forget the death of their parents. and that's pretty much the story they went with. over the years, asher trained his summoning and grew closer to toriko than to any friend he had before. they understood each other and complemented each other. asher never really grew out of his shy fase as he never really spent a whole lot of time with others his age. asher rather spent his time with toriko, playing around in the woods or riding his horse in full sprint alongside a flying toriko. his parents and sister visited every year on his birthday and really... life was pretty good. asher was barely sixteen when a trumpet resounded through the dark of the night, a bit down the road from where they lived. asher was startled awake and sat upright. it was only a few seconds later when christopher barged through the door, fear in his eyes. "you have to go," he breathed out, rushed and panicked. he grabbed a bag from the closet and started stuffing it with things he thought asher would need. sleep muddling his mind, asher was a bit confused as to what was happening. He voiced as much. "i don't understand... what's happening?" christopher stopped what he was doing and looked up at asher, a sad smile on his face. he dropped the bag on the floor and walked over to the bed, kneeling down before it. "you're like my brother, ash... i love you. you know that right?" he asked the boy, who was slowly starting to get it, a lonely tear making its way across his chubby cheek. christopher caressed the younger boy's face and wiped the tear away, a soft smile gracing his lips. "you'll be fine, ash," he whispered, grabbing asher's right hand. he pulled out an intricately detailed dagger and made a small nick in the palm of asher's hand, causing it to bleed ever so slightly. christopher made the hand cover the small tattoo on asher's left wrist and looked up again. "go, i'll make sure to stall them." toriko barged in from the open window, his size nearly too big to fit, being the format of a small griffin. another trumpet screech could be heard, this time much closer than before. "go," christopher repeated himself, tossing the dagger in the bag and throwing it to asher. one more smile and then he closed the door the behind him. asher swallowed, fear apparent on his face as he looked over at toriko, the beast staring back at him. asher nodded, threw the bag over his shoulder and with agile practice, climbed on toriko's back to fly off into the night. m a g i c asher's magic ability is to summon. in his case, he can summon toriko, the hybrid of a bird, cat and dog. if asher wishes to summon toriko, he needs his own blood and run it over the small tattoo on his inner wrist. toriko, being of flesh and blood, doesn't just appear in a puff of smoke, but rather comes soaring from the skies. toriko doesn't trust easily and is quite people shy. if people come to close to him, there is a very high chance of him lashing out. toriko's eyecolour changes depending on his mood. it should also be noticed that toriko is steadily growing with the years and is expected to grow to be quite, for the lack a better word, enormous. click. click. h e a l t h physical ailments n/a. neurological ailments n/a. addictions n/a. allergies mild hayfever. blood type o-. sleeping habits barely sleeps at night and is a serial napper during the day. exercise habits horse riding, climbing. eating habits picky eater. is not very fond of meats. emotional stability stable. sociability mostly shy, but very talkative when he likes you. drinks alcohol? no. smokes? no. does drugs? no. f a m i l y b a c k g r o u n d mother catherine roosevelt nee evans, doctor at a local clinic. father theodore roosevelt, ex-general of the royal military troops. siblings emerson roosevelt, older sister, studies medicine. pets summon; toriko. children n/a. spouse n/a. best friend toriko. other mentionables christopher adams, caretaker. social class upper class. t r i v i a » has a habit of leaving his crap lying around, everywhere. doesn't like to admit that he is messy, just isn't the neatest person around. » can't cook to save his life, but tries his very best nonetheless. |
