Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink Empty Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink

zo apr 08, 2018 8:14 pm

This tavern, The Hungry Harbor, had been open since about two a.m. on this rainy day. Yet, it was quite abandoned. Except for the handsome man, making notes somewhere in the back corner of the tavern. Notes about stories he wanted to write. Notes about words he found pleasing, to use for writing poetry. Notes for feelings, and metaphors, to write songs about. Actually, he had been só occupied with this, that he did not notice the crowd, that had been slowly growing bigger, since eight a.m. Then, around ten o’clock, when he looked up from his notebook.. the room had changed.

The faint sound of thunder, coming from outside. The dim light, lighting up the room. The smell of sweat, fish, dust, and even blood. Silvian tried to keep a straight face as he saw some rough folk looking at him, with a look in their eyes, he could not identify. Strange. He felt content, yet uneasy. It was at that point that his stomach made the most graceless sound it had ever made. He almost felt sick, because of his own nastiness. But the message was clear. So he put away his notebook and walked towards the bar. Nobody moved for him, unfortunately. So it took him some time to get there. He decided that he would just eat his meal at the bar. Thunder struck when he opened his mouth. It frightened him. The fact that the bartender just kept staring at him, made the man look even more scary. That, was beautiful, in it’s own way. He then ordered some fish. It was an exotic dish to him.

After some time, a plate with two fish, nothing else, was placed in front of him. “Have fun.” What a strange way of saying you wish for someone to enjoy their meal. “Thank you, kind provider of food, drinks and joy.” The man did not respond, and got back to work.

Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink Empty Re: Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink

Who needs enemies when you've got yourself
He had to admit, the last drink had probably been a bit to much. That didn't mean they had to kick him out right? Did he care the bar closed before midnight? No. So they should've let him stay. But apparently they weren't the kind of people that would look at him, think something sentimental and let him stay just for a little while longer. No. They were the same as everyone else. Judging, arrogant, annoying. And now he had to walk out here, in the pouring rain, looking for a place to stay. He wasn't tired yet, he just wanted to drink morein the hopes of forgetting what had happened these past weeks.

By the time he found a new place where he could quench his thirst, his head had calmed down a bit and he was proud to say he could walk straight again. Though his head warned him to not drink too much, he rather just wanted to go full on in, knowning that it would just be a mistake that would add up to the many he had already made. Silently, Kaz crept into the tavern, spotting some familiar faces, who he had forgotten the names of, and made his way to the bar, not really in the mood for conversation. One seat left, next to a bruiser, who he remembered to be named something along the lines of Spit.. or was it Piss, and some odd figure that didn't really seem to be the type of this kind of place. Kazz nodded at the man behind the bar, who gave him a crooked smile with the few teeth he had left and who asked him if he wanted the usual. Kaz had already forgotten what the usual was, it felt like ages since h had been here, and just nodded. A few moments later and a drink that appeared to be at least something strong, was put before him. Kaz nodded a thanks and drank it in one go, surprised with the burn it caused in his throat. Ignoring everyone around him he put the glass down and looked at the barman. Another. And another came. Whatever this night would bring, Kaz hoped he could just drink away his sorrow in silence and not be bothered by ... anything.

Heavenly. Fish. He couldn’t have imagined he would like it thís much. The taste, at least. Because Silvian could see that how the food was presented on the plate, was a little.. well let’s not say that word. With every bite he forgot his gloomy circumstances a little more. So, really, he didn’t realise a new friend has entered the fray, and sat down next to him. Gulping down drinks like it was his last day on earth. He seemed like the kind of man who would have a lot of walls around him. Walls, forged with alcohol and negativity. Of course, Silvian could be accelerating. He might as well be wrong about the man. Nonetheless, he had something about the man. Silvian continued delicating on his fish, and wondering about the nature of this specific individual.

Once he finished his meal, he asked for a cup of tea, but got an ale, paired with a dirty look. He gave the man his best smile and took a sip. He then turned his head to mister wallman. For some reason, he felt that he shouldn’t talk. But he.. did.. want to communicate with the man. He lowered his head and stared at the bar. Thinking. Almost.. automatically.. he took out his lute.. and started to play a slow, calming melody. Not to many uplifting notes, not to many dark ones either. Neutral music, so to say. He didn’t look at the man though. He wanted the man to notice him, and talk to him himself. It just felt like that was da wae.

Who needs enemies when you've got yourself
The strange figure beside him seemed to leave him alone. Good. The few glances he got he could understand, it wasn't everyday you saw someone like Kaz. Especially not this.. sad. Due to the rain his hair was all flat and miserable, a few drops gliding off and dropping on his black, leather gloves. With this weather they were horrible to wear, but taking them off was not an option. It never was.
Kaz couldn't help but chuckle when the man next to him asked for tea. How far into his head was he to think this kind of establishment would offer tea? No, it was horrible beer and a little less horrible liquor. So far, he could drink it and that was all what counted. Kaz emitted a deep sigh, sipped from his drink and continued staring forward.

Kaz was in a nice, thoughtful and silent mood until the particular individual next to him started to move. And started to play an instrument. For a moment this was all okay. But it only took about thirty seconds for the young thief to get irritated. This dude was nuts and probably had too much to drink. In one movement his hand shot twards the lute, his hand envelopping around the hand of the man that held the snares at the top. His grip was firm, his eyes were cold. ''Your making my ears bleed.'' He hissed, letting go, not wanting to touch longer than needed, hoping that his message had been clear. Kaz returned to his former position, drinking his drink in one go and ordering another one. ''Damn crazies.'' He mumbled to himself, the grip around his glass tight, obviously not very happy with the current situation. This was not da wae.

Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink Empty Re: Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink

ma apr 16, 2018 11:56 am

Interruption. He felt the cold hand. He never dared to look at it’s owner. And felt.. a sudden sadness. Not from the criticism he got. No, from the man’s voice. He had, never before in his life, heard a sadder voice than this man’s. Trying to sound angry, maybe even tough, but unconditionally.. sad. He did, in fact, stop playing after that. Instead he took another sip. It was much less delightful than his meal had been. What was he to do? He didn’t want to get outside, yet he didn’t really want to stay inside. He just wanted to.. talk. To get to know the man next to him. To feel happy feelings. To.. magically.. find out the man was some sort of extraordinary individual. He put away his lute and ran his hand through his hair. A teaspoon of sadness came back. His heart screamed: You are valid! You are wonderful! You are special!

He had to let the man understand. He sighed, and took another sip, while placing his hand on his heart. He didn’t like to be called crazy. But the remark.. came from a pained man. That pain, was the source of all those ‘wrong’ and ‘untrue’ statements. He could just feel it. You know that feeling? When you talk to someone and.. you just know that there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. You just have to get to know them. But sometimes.. you just don’t know why. Even talking seemed like a bad idea. Ironically, that was what Silvian would like to do most of all right now. Which is why.. he couldn’t help himself.. and talked anyway. “Who hurt you?” He asked softly, gently. With his words he.. sent his magical healing powers.. to the man.. just like he would do while performing his songs. Making him sound a little more angelic. Maybe.. this was da wae?

Who needs enemies when you've got yourself
The plan was simple. He was just here to enjoy his drink, to get drunk and to forget everything in the morning. The man sitting next to him playing a goddamn lute wasn't part of that plan. And Kaz didn't want him to be part of that plan. The thief was considering either punching the man in the face, which was kind of harsh come to think of it, or just get up and sit somewhere else. But this stool was comfortable and the pub was packed, so finding another place to sit by himself would be a harder task than he wanted it to be.

Kaz rolled his eyes, sighed and nipped from his drink, doing it a bit slower than the ones who came before. ''The entire world.'' He snapped, albeit sarcastically, not even looking at the lunatic sitting next to him. ''Will you shut up now?'' Kaz wasn't exactly your friendly neighbourhood man, and especially not when you bothered him with something like this. He was just here to have a good time and he honestly felt attacked right now. Ah, fuck it. He gulped down his drink in one go, hoping it would loosen him up a bit and stop him from being so annoyed. ''Can't you fuck off?''

Why do people act so nasty? Because they are hurt. The best way to respond to it, is with a forgiving kind of love. Silvian, without even knowing the man, believed that he was worth forgiving. Everybody is. He didn’t want to look at the man right now. He couldn’t help, but feel pity for him. What must have happened for someone to think it’s okay to act like this? Calmly, he took another sip from his drink. What was he to do? Had he engaged to much, to go away? Or had he not tried hard enough? Was it okay to.. try to make everyone feel better? His words.. made clear, at least that was what Silvian thought, that he wanted to be alone. Was it really so? Was it really the best thing for the man? Suddenly, the word ‘self medicating’ popped into his mind.

Silvian was not intending to respond to the ‘fork off’ question. Although he wanted to help, he would not let himself get caught in a downward spiral. He placed his hands on the bar, and got up. He gulped down the last bit of his drink, and gave the bartender the money. “Keep the change.” He said, not knowing he was giving way to big of a tip. He placed his Lute under the left side of his coat, to protect it from the rain, and walked out.

The rain, to him, felt heavier than any other rain had ever done before. “Please understand that you’re worth it..” He whispered, standing outside of the tavern. He walked around the tavern, where he knew to be a little cantilever roof. A long sigh left his throat. “Maybe today is just a bad day. And that’s okay. The morn shall rise. Happiness’ reprise.” He muttered, wrapping his coat a little more around him. Dang, it was cold. Can’t.. everybody.. just.. chill.. for.. once..? This may be the angriest Silvian has ever been, and probably the angriest he ever will be.

Who needs enemies when you've got yourself
The man seemed to rethink his methods and Kaz was glad to notice that he was about to leave. With a soft sigh Kaz continued to drink, a bit faster, justing wanting to forget today. His hair started to dry and to curl to his dismay and with a hand running through his hair he only made it worse. The barman looked at how the man who had been seated besides Kaz disappeared in the crowd and eventually, outside. He glanced at Kaz, who just shrugged and continued drinking, glad to finally have some time for himself.

An hour later the beer tasted so horible Kaz decided to call it a night. He put down the gold, waited for the change and went outside. The rain had stopped but the wind and cold had taken its place. He put up his collar and was somewhat glad to hear the soft crows from kruge. The crow landed on his shoulder and bit his ear, to which Kaz softly chuckled, handing the demon a small piece of dried meat. The alcohol had loosened him up a bit and he had already forgotten of the ordeal that happened earlier tonight. The thief started walking, not really having a destination in mind. Kruge crowed again, Kaz shook his head. ''I don't care you wanted to be inside. You don't feel the cold anyway.'' Kaz replied as if he understood what the creature was saying. He did, in a way, but never took the time to reply unless in moments like these, where he was halfway to drunk and didn't gave a fuck. While walking and replying to the demon, Kaz hadn't even noticed the shadow he passed.

Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink Empty Re: Disaster 's in the air, and in my drink

Silvian had been jumping rope for an hour in his mind. Fork that guy.. Help that guy.. Hurt that guy.. Forgive that guy.. Walk up to that guy.. Forget that guy.. It just wasn’t fair. A test of will. He genuinely was appalled to the idea of acting nasty to that man. But something in him really wanted to come up for himself. Which was weird. There was nothing to come up for. He hadn’t lost any self respect. Any dignity. Any honor. And yet.. this angered him to the bone. “It’s not hard to be nice. It’s not hard to make the world a little brighter.” He muttered to himself. I guess you could say he was a little disappointed in all he had met today. Okay, maybe not a little. Maybe a little more.

And then.. the heavens gave him.. something. Maybe a gift. Maybe a test. Maybe a curse. But he whom had made him upset, was now walking by. Silvian was now.. gathering up his courage. But he did not yet know what for. He waited until the man had passed by, before he stepped out of the shadows. Making sure there was at least fifty feet between them both.

Look at the child
Lost in his mind
A horrible adult
Forgetting to be kind

Life full of drama
Not letting out the tears
Hates himself
Hates his fears

Hurt ‘s ever present
Life, where is it’s meaning?
Never giving it a chance
Your sorrows intervening

Weeping, crying, sogging
Earthless
Living in a circle
Cause you feel less than worthless

A song, not from the heart. But from the desire to speak his mind. From the desire to make very clear that this man was making his own life worse and worse everyday, by acting like that. Assuming he did. But y’know.. Fork it! Even if he was mistaken. He was allowed to make mistakes.. Something the man in front of him apparently didn’t know. You don’t have to scold everyone you prick. Maybe it needed to be set. Maybe his nose needed to be pressed in the facts.

Who needs enemies when you've got yourself
Slightly tipsy the world always seemed to be a better place. That, or the complete opposite. Luckily Kaz was in the first mood and he probably would crack an actual smile if he drank even more. But now, while he could still walk straight, he was enmjoying the moment. He didn't care about the cold, nor the wind. He cared about himself and that was that. Kruge sat idely on his shoulder, the meat disappearing in his belly. For some reason Kaz could always find a sort of comfort in the bird, no matter how much he hated the creature. If you can't get rid of it, the only thing you could do was embracing it.

And just like that, with a snap of the fingers it seemed, his jolly mood was gone. As soon as he heard the voice the faint smile on his lips disappeared and he stopped dead in his tracks. He didn't turn around just yet but instead listened to the words. In a way, they hit him like a punch to the gut. It felt like the wounds on his stomach tore open again and the thoughts of just wanting to disappear returned. When the last words echoed away on the empty streets Kaz slowly turned around.
His face was anything but happy. There was a certain kind of sorrow but mostly, anger. Pure anger. With quick steps he walked over to the man, the same man he had scolded at the bar. In his anger Kaz forgot his limp, though he could feel the pain sting as he walked. ''You never know when to quit do you?'' He hissed, nearing the man.

A quick look up and down told Kaz this man was certainly not from here. So he perhaps didn't know the customs. With a single move Kaz had his cane loosly in his hand, the metal material of the crow skull glinting in the moonlight. As of now, it looked like Kaz was only held back by the fact that he had had too much to drink and wasn't certain what exactly was going on. ''Who are you to know me?'' He continued with clenched teeth, raising his cane a little. ''Give me one good reason to not crack your skull right now.'' The threat was real and by the look of Kruge on his shoulder, Kaz wouldn't be the only one thieving from a corpse tonight.

That was right. He couldn’t quit. He tried, but he couldn’t. Fate had given him another chance. And now the other man suffered the consequences of his actions. Silvian’s levels of pity lowered every second he looked at the man’s face. He just had the face of a bully. A straight up bully. You know what, nobody cares about your sad life. Just move on and be a decent person. It’s not hard. You’re using your life as an excuse for your actions. But newsflash.. you have control over your own life! Maybe not every aspect. But you certainly have control over your actions. Come on! Give me your best shot! Then the cane came out. Ha! Really? Hiding behind threats! He couldn’t even solve a problem without violence. He had learned nothing. His look.. his words.. it didn’t scare him. For the first time in his life. He wasn’t scared to tell someone exactly what they were. Given.. this was actually the first time Silvian was close to not caring about someone. “I will not give you any reason. You will have to earn your reason. Goodbye.” Then he ran away as quickly as possible like a scared cat. Okay maybe he was a little frightened. But at least he had a plan of how to actually come out of this unharmed.
