It was late at night when the vampire was walking through the dark forest. Around him, he could hear all kind of animals and other creature. He was a night creature, even when he was able to walk in the sun. But he the night did not feel like home nor did the day.
A strong scent found it’s way to his nose. It was a lovable smell and it was almost pulling the vampire towards it. He knew what it was and he knew his body wanted it. Before he knew it, he was following it. It was very strong and not at all hard to find the source.
The scent of blood brought him to an open space, with only one poor soul in the middle. Some would think it was a bear attack, but he knew better. Monsters roamed around this part of the land, especially when the moon was full and high in the sky. Humans had their tales about the big bad evil, that was hiding in the village as a man but changed in a beast during the full moon. Everyone knew the tales, but most of them never lived to tell the real story.
With steady steps, he walked in a circle around the man on the ground. “Is this tragedy I see?” the vampire asked while he moved closer toward the person. His dark eyes were observing the deep wounds inflicted by the beast. Was it still close? It’s scent was still everywhere, the chance that it was lurking around was high.
Mordred went to his knees when he was next to the person that was still laying on the ground. He placed one of his slender finger against the side of his face and with a soft touch, he moved it across his cheek, neck and eventually went towards the wound. “Shame, most humans don’t survive an attack like this. Your end is around the corner, waiting for when the moment to strike is finally here.” Mordred removed his hand again and looked at his blood covered fingers.
Behind him, he could hear the loud footsteps of something not human. They were making too much noise and the scent in the air gave it away. The beast wanted his meal back. He was not yet finished with the human and he wanted to play more. He could let him. What was in front of him was nothing more than another human being like all the others. One lifeless wouldn’t matter and he wouldn’t care, but that was exactly why he stayed there, next to the man. He did not care even while he wanted to.
While thoughts haunted his mind he brought his finger to his tongue and licked away the blood. The infection was already spreading and was affecting the taste of his blood.

There were none
He just had wanted to got home. It had been a long day and you could see he was tired. The man was walking slow while he softly hummed a song to make everything a bit less quiet. It was not that he was afraid of the dark, but everyone always relaxed when they could fill in the quiet with a happy song. The smile on his face told the outside word that this had been a good day. He had sold enough potions to be able to buy that pie he had wanted to buy yesterday. It might sound a bit silly, but the man just loved pie and he always saved money to buy one once in awhile.
Benjamin stopped humming when he heard something and as soon as he turned around, his eyes widened. There was a wolf standing behind him. No...not a wolf. Something else, something scary and something that definitely seemed to want to eat him. So he did the only thing he could think of, turn around and run. He tried to run as fast as possible, didn’t even think about the fact that the creature could be faster as he was. Benjamin made to mistake to look over his shoulder in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the monster. It didn’t take long before he tripped over his own feet because he hadn’t been paying attention on the road anymore and a soft ‘crack’ sounded when he landed on his wrist.
The man pressed his wrist against his body while he tried to crawl away. A scream left his lips when he felt how claws dugged themselves into his flesh and dragged him backwards again. ”No, please.” Tears streamed down his face when he felt the warm breath of the creature in his neck. He tried to struggle, but the more he moved, the deeper the claws sank in his flesh. He started to scream again when he felt how the creature bit him in his shoulder. The screams slowly turned into sobs while he closed his eyes. He was sure he was going to die.
Suddenly the weight of the creature disappeared. It pulled its teeth and its claws out of his body and seemed to leave, like something had disturbed it. Benjamin stayed behind, not able to move. He slowly opened his eyes again when he heard a voice, but he was too weak to move his head to see who it was. Benjamin held his breath when he felt the other one’s finger on his cheek sliding down to his neck and to the bite wound on his shoulder. He gasped when pain flared up in his shoulder again when the man touched the wound.
”Please, I don’t want to die.” The words were whispered while he slowly managed to move his hand and tried to grab the man’s hand. He didn’t had to strength to lift his arm, but he brushed his fingers over the other one’s foot to get his attention. ”Please.”

Even though the wolf was out of sight, he was still around. The only reason he’d disappear for a moment was because of the vampire. With easy steps he came closer towards the bleeding man, he surely was dying and he would be dead in a few hours if he was left like that. Mordred went through his knees so he was closer to the other and went with his finger through his wounds. He was hurting the man, so much was clear. Somewhere in the forest he heard a loud growl from the angry werewolf. Before he stood up again, he licked the blood from his fingers.
When the werewolf came running towards him he waited until he was close enough and then he attacked. He grabbed the claw that was lunning for him and in a swift motion he jumped over his back, turning the arm on his back. With his feet he broke the werewolf his other arm by standing on it which broke it because of the unnatural position. The sound his bones were making was sickening, but it didn’t bother Modred. He stood on top of the wolf like it was normal, like he could not hear the yammering of the beast. “You want my help, am I correct?” He pulled the arm one more time, separating the bones from his shoulder. It would heal, if he let the wolf live.
With his dark eyes he looked back at the wounded man. If he wanted him to live, he had to be quick. The wounds seemed bad and the fact that he was unable to really move, meant there was something wrong. He stepped of the werewolf and let him go. His bones did not immediately heal so he had some time and with his enhanced speed it was not hard. In a matter of second he stood before the giant human looking wolf and tilted him up by the neck, curling his fingers around the trachea, pressing it close. Meanwhile his fingers dug deep in his skin and he felt the warm blood rolling down his hand. The beast was still trying to fight, but couldn’t do much with his both front legs broken and no air. Slowly he was changing back to the human that was hidden behind all the fur.
Mordred tossed the lifeless body away and it hid a tree somewhere, breaking the back of the dead werewolf. “Can you stand?” he then asked the dying man. He had no idea why he even asked that, why he was even considering helping him. It was not like he cared for his life.
