Darkness. It was consuming his soul, filling it with utter nothingness. Once he’d been afraid of the pitch black which was surrounding him. You never knew what was lurking inside. A sane person would know nothing was in a room with you if it was small and when there was nowhere to go. But after a while, you start seeing things in the darkness. Figures of beasts and monsters. They aren’t real, but you won't be sure about that after many years. Everything seems so real and you almost want them to be real, only so you're not alone anymore.
“Oh yes, yes, yes. That’s right. They know nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Let them talk. Don’t interrupt. They won’t listen anyway.” The hoarse voice was nothing but a soft whisper. Eyes were staring into nothingness, not focussing on anything for there was nothing to see. There was a chance he’d become blind after all those years. If he was, he had no idea. No light was able to get inside, warm his skin, show what was hidden. Sight was a thing he didn’t need anymore. “My friends are right. They are always right. That they are for sure.” It was unsure who he was talking to. Even he didn’t know anymore. A while ago he had discovered that it helped against the lonely feeling he had. When he was talking, it felt like there was someone because only crazy people talked to themselves. “Darkness will consume all.” A loud laugh that was filled with insanity filled the room he was sitting in, with his legs spread before him. They looked crooked, both of them. Not that he saw that, but there had been a time he’d felt the pain. Oh horrible, sweet pain. All across his body. In his stomach, his head, his toes. Everywhere.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
