If she wasn’t fully committed, then there would be no point in him trying to help her out. Because he wouldn’t be the one to motivate her to push through. He wasn’t the best motivational speaker, for one. Second, it wasn’t his responsibility. It was her cause, so she would have to do it on her own, in the end. He could take her there, but eventually she was the one who would have to finish her task. And it wouldn’t be easy. Setting goals was always kinda risky. Because he didn’t know how she would react if she didn’t meet it. How she would handle the disappointment. It was something he couldn’t deal with, especially when it came to promises he had made to himself. It could get real nasty real quick when it happened.

Therefore her answer to his question was really important. And luckily for her, the answer pleased him. After speaking, she took a large sip of the liquor, as to confirm it to herself and to him as well. His signature smirk popped up on his face. ”Good. When do you want to leave?” He asked, then looking at her glass and the bottle right next to it. ”I think you might wanna pick another day than tomorrow though”, He continued, his smirk broadening in a bigger and amused grin.

For once in his life he had actually offered to help someone without needing anything in return. Well, that was not entirely true. But it was no secret he was very bad at making friends and keeping healthy relationships with people. Either way, she was one of the people he could stand in his immediate surroundings. He couldn’t pinpoint what exactly made him feel that way, but he sure had some respect for her. He hadn’t felt the need to stab her, yet. And that meant something to him. So he was a bit surprised and also somewhat offended when she turned his offer down. ”I’ll try not to take this personally”, He replied, his amber eyes focused on hers as he accepted her rejection.

“Besides,” She then said. “Don’t you have important business to attend to? Can’t just disappear for a while.” The young man chuckled amused. ”This is my business”, He chuckled, motioning at the ship around them. “I don’t disappear, I just take it with me wherever I go”, He continued. After that, he downed his glass in one go and refilled it to the brim again. ”At least promise you’ll let go of your worries and sorrow tonight. Drink with me, Commander, it tastes better the more you take”, He laughed, while leaning back on the couch and taking another sip of the glass.

The reason why she had to go was still a big question mark to him. As was the location of where she was going and what she was looking for. But she turned his help down and he expected it would be because of a reason he couldn’t know yet as he was lacking the information. One day he would hopefully find out. But today was not that day and thanks to a little help of the alcohol he could handle it better than he would have sober. He wasn’t used to taking ‘no’ for an answer. For her he, again, made an exception though.

The young captain looked at her when she sighed. If she had any comments on his boat, she’d better keep those to herself. For now, they would get wasted together and relax. Not the right time for insults on his beloved Shark. “I’ll need more for that,” She said, and he chuckled. ”That can be arranged”, He replied casually. He took the bottle and emptied it completely in her glass. After that, he got up and took another one out of the cabinet next to the door. As he was about to turn around to walk back to her, he could hear a muffled scream coming from the deck.

Romeo froze for a second, then quickly put the bottle away and grabbed his harpoon. He opened the door carefully to see what was going on. A group of people were on the deck, and he noticed the soft light of the moon shimmering on the blades they were carrying. ”Fuck”, He muttered, his bright amber gaze turning back to Lexa. ”Wait here”, He said. Someone was hijacking his fucking ship. And of course he wouldn’t let that happen.

Why did trouble always find its way to his doorstep? He was actually just relaxing, for once. Not causing any chaos, not trying to stab or drown anyone, not out on the streets looking for someone to rob. But it seemed like he wasn’t allowed to take a break. This wasn’t the first time people tried to board his ship without his permission, trying to take whatever was stashed in the haul. That’s why he had assigned guards in the first place. They had picked the wrong ship and the wrong captain to fuck with though. When he had instructed Lexa to stay in the cabin, he stormed out on the deck, a challenging roar coming from his chest as he charged towards the intruders.

They had stabbed and killed at least one guard, but there were several more below deck. The group that had boarded his ship were prepared to fight, but so was he. Soon he got assistance from two crew members. They were still in minority, but they were defending their home. His harpoon turned into a lethal weapon as he unleashed his anger. How dare they think his ship was an easy prey? How dare they think he would give up his loot without a skirmish? The first man went down with ease, the second one was more alert. The fight didn’t even go on that long, and soon the four of them were either running away cursing or down on the deck, dead.

”Throw their bodies overboard”, He instructed with a deep sigh. He was fed up with this already. They just never learned. He should’ve actually tie the bodies to the bow, as a message to anyone trying to invade his ship. But at the same time, he wouldn’t want the bodies to start rotting and spread that terrible smell. The captain turned around, distracted by his shoulder, that was bleeding where a sabre had cut through his skin. That all changed as soon as he noticed the door to his cabin was open. He remembered vividly closing it. Something was wrong. He ran over to the door, and noticed how an individual had entered his room. His back was turned towards the door, so Romeo didn’t think twice as he jumped forward and tackled the man from behind.

Nothing was certain these days. One moment, you were having fun, the next it was all going down and going down fast. No one was safe, so it seemed. Not even him. Maybe it was his karma. Because he made the life of some people really difficult as well. Or his God was testing him. For his strength and bravery. Well, he would certainly not disappoint Him. He would kill every last man He sent his way. That included the invader in his cabin. Normally he’d expect Raccoon to take care of that little issue by herself. But it seemed like she wasn’t armed, taken by surprise and cornered against the wall of his ship. So he did what every logical thinking person would do. He jumped on the man’s back, to break his balance and give her a chance to get away.

But damn, was he big and strong. His surprise attack shifted the man’s focus to him, which was simultaneously a good and a bad thing. His harpoon hadn’t much of a use on this short range, so he had dropped it. But the other was still armed, something Raccoon kindly reminded him on. The bulldozer rolled on his side and eventually he had to let go. His wounded shoulder hit the floor and he sharply inhaled when the familiar pain came in. Quickly the other positioned himself above him, pinning his lower body to the ground. ”Motherfucker”, He roared, after which he punched the guy in the face. As if he hit a brick wall. Of course, the other didn’t just let that happen. He planted his elbow in his ribs, which made him gasp for air, and punched him back. He could feel his nose bleeding, as a warm liquid poured over his face. ”A lil help would be appreciated”, He shouted at Raccoon, while he dodged another hit from the intruder.

While he was getting his facial features rearranged, Raccoon seemed to be chilling. He could see her watching from the corner of his eyes, but she didn’t really take any action. Probably because she wasn’t used to making decisions with a brain that was clouded by alcohol. So he thought it would be great to give her a little push. Call her to the here and now, instead of the moment she seemed to live in. ‘What do you think THAT WHORE can do?!’ The man above him shouted with a voice that could resemble a thunderstorm. Well, she quickly showed what she was capable of. She threw a knife, causing him to drop his weapon and reach for his wounded arm. Romeo managed to get a hold of the knife he dropped, and he slammed it into the weak flesh of the other’s stomach.

The man screamed again, though it turned into the familiar gurgling sound when his lungs started filling with blood. He coughed, spraying the blood in his throat everywhere. With a groan he rolled away, so Romeo could get up when he finally pushed the body off his legs. The captain got up, breathing heavily. For a few seconds, he stared at the intruder, watched how his blood was spreading out over the carpet he had stolen from a rich family somewhere in Naverre. It was safe to say it was ruined now.

”Fucking hell, there is blood on my fucking rug. You know why I put this rug here in the first place, huh? Cause it was hiding more blood stains! Cause it’s motherfucking hard to get blood out of anything. Now what am I supposed to do? Put a rug over this rug? I can’t do that, it looks terrible! Fucks up the whole aesthetic of my room”, He sighed dramatically. Not that she would give a damn about the decorations in his room. With the towel still pressed against his nose, he kicked the unconscious man on the ground in his stomach, causing him to moan in pain again. ”I’m so done with Brightwater Keep”, The captain continued, shaking his head slightly. ”Now, where did that bottle go? I’m thirsty from fighting”, He said, wondering if she was still up for drinking or if she would want to leave now.

First, they tried to raid his ship. Then, they had tried to kill him, which failed. Whatever plans they had with Commander Raccoon, luckily failed too. But what actually made this all a terrible experience, was the fact that his rug was ruined. Oh, and someone was dying in his cabin. Marvellous. He also couldn’t do it quietly. No, he deemed it necessary to first spill his blood everywhere and make a whole lot of noise. He could feel the side of his face dripping with warm liquid, and he didn’t even have to guess what it was. Ew. His own nose was bleeding still as well, so he quickly grabbed an old towel and wiped his face, after which he held it against his nose to stop the bleeding. His rant about his rug couldn’t be stopped though.

“I think it suits you quite well,” She commented with a smile, calming him down eventually. “Might as well just leave it here for next time, as I doubt there won’t be one.” She then said. He nodded softly. ”Well you’re not wrong”, He then shrugged. Anyway, where did that bottle go? Swear to the Drowned God, if it was broken.. “That fight would’ve been so much easier without alcohol in my blood, yet you think of drinking more?” She said, stopping him right in his track. He focused his amber eyes on her. For a moment, he went quiet. He tossed aside the towel, as his nose was now fixed. ”You proved you can handle yourself the hard way as well. So why not drink more?” He asked in return. If she didn’t feel safe, he would get that though. He wouldn’t force her to do anything she didn’t want to.
