Use your blood to paint || Open

With a last calculated movement of the paintbrush, and his painting was done. It still had to dry of course, but then like all the others it'd be another piece of art. And like everything else in his humble home, it'd get a reddish brown tint. The odd coloration was caused by his secret ingredient, namely; blood. Mostly it was human blood. Often enough he could get freshly dead bodies via some people he.. Was acquainted with. He’d bottle the still fluid blood for his own cravings, he needed it to survive. It was his food resource. The rest of the blood, he used to make paints. It would be a shame to let it go to waste. He tried eating normal food, especially right after he got turned.. But it… it didn’t taste like it used to. It lost most of its flavor. He tried it, now and again, but it never got the flavor back. Not like it had when he was still human. An adult man in a small village. It wasn’t on the maps anymore, it was forgotten in time apparently. Or maybe it was destroyed, he wouldn’t know. It had been a long time since he had last seen it. About 200 years ago now. Give or take?
His turning was not out of free will. A vampire almost lost control and instead of letting him die, killing him, he turned the man instead. He never had gotten an answer as to why, as the other vampire had disappeared after learning the brown haired man the ropes of being a vampire.
Leonardo had tried to contact his friends, family.. But they did not see him as him anymore. They saw him as a monster, and they were right, weren’t they? He was a monster. According to some people, and sometimes according to himself too, in more ways then one. He detested his curse at first but in time he had learned to live with it and to use it to his advantage. He traveled a lot, had seen all places that the world had to offer. But only after he had seen his family grow old and die. He never spoke to them again after.. They kicked him out, but he kept an eye out, helped where he could. An invisible knight in shining armor, almost. And in the end, once he was done traveling, when the pain of his family had dulled, he chose bright water keep as his residence. The smell of the sea, the colors of the city had appealed to him. It was then, that he had started painting. That was.. Gosh.. About a 100 years ago? Funny how time flew right by. He never signed his paintings and now and again he left his home and the city. He did not want to draw any unwelcome attention to himself. He liked it here, and would love to stay put for a while longer. His home was something he got attached to. The smells too. The people.. He tried not to get too close to them. He’d have to see them die, and he did not want that.
With a soft smile he put the painting away, leaving it to dry just right. He washed himself, getting rid of any stains, cleaned his workshop and went outside. He needed some new painting supplies, empty canvasses mostly.
Softly whistling to himself, he made his way across the streets of the city. The sun was shining brightly in the sky. It did not bother him too much, thankfully. Some children’s tales told of vampires who burned and dies when they came in contact with the sun, but as far as he knew that was just it. Children’s tales so they would be home at night.
The only side effect he experienced was a mild headache if he was out all day, but that could also be due to other things. Like, thinking too hard or exhaustion. There where all kinds of things that could be responsible for headaches. Before he knew it, he was in front of the shop. He made small talk with the owner and bought everything he needed, including three canvases.
The big white empty pieces of cloth where obscuring his view a little bit.. But he should be fine.. Until he wasn’t. He was not even five meters from the shop, and he collided with something? Someone? All his things scattered to the ground. Oh dear…. He hoped the canvases weren’t shredded.. It would be horrible.. Speaking of horrible! He held his hands out in front of him, shaking them a bit. They looked a bit like jazz hands. ‘I’m so sorry! Are you all right?!’ In a flash his eyes went to the source of his collision. He hoped it was a person, it would be so embarrassing if he collided with a sign post or something the like. He’d be the talk of the town for weeks.
