Greed bows to me. It is my servant and my lever.
Was the king toying with him? Probably, and Kaz's feelings only got more reassured when the Lareth started about the guards. How could Kaz know? He never had any guards around him and they were only a mild annoyance when he had to break into a house owned by some rich dude. Usually they were easily subdued, but sometimes you had the tryhards who just wouldn't go down in one punch. Kaz rather avoided those and the men Lareth surrounded himself with were probably that kind of guard.
Kaz frowned while he sipped from the wine, it was too good to leave it on the table. ''What if I'm stealing and murdering for you? Wouldn't make sense.'' He retorted, speaking calmy while looking around. The guard who cut him loose was still there, the others only from a distance. Kaz followed Larethians example and drank the wine until his glass was empty. ''But we can discuss that later.'' His other demand could easily be fulfilled. If the king was kind to him. This all could still be a trap and Kaz was aware of it, but the feeling that he could just barge in and get what he wanted overthrew his caution. ''The gold.'' He simply stated, putting the glass back on the table. Now that was something the king surely could arrange.

He knew all too well that questions would be asked. It was a strange conversation that was going on right now. But still a conversation Larethian wanted to continue. Things could go rather odd. One moment those two wanted to kill each other and the next moment Larethian made him an offer he could probably not refuse. Or perhaps he wanted to refuse but he was just too scared to do so. Not that the boy seemed so impressed.
Larethian turned his body away from kaz for a moment while filling another glass of the wine. Suggesting if Kaz wanted another drink as well he held up the jar to fill his glass also. I understand your doubting. he felt silent. You will steal, murder or spy under my command. I will give you contracts and any murder or robbing you do outside these contracts is your own responsibility. He answered him seriously. And when he began about the subject of ‘gold’ his eyes lit up a little. Making another grin appear on his face as he tilts his head. Ah yes, gold. Probably a men’s greatest treasure. Besides a woman of course. He made a ridiculous statement of it while the jar was placed on the table again. What is it that you want to talk about .. Is it the height of the payment? he asked him a little more interested this time.

Look, now it was getting interesting. Kaz heard the words of Lareth and smiled broadly. This was something exactly up his alley. And he had the years of experience and if he could now do it legally? My, a whole new world opened up to him. And Kaz really wanted to grasp the oppertunity. He shoved the warnings aside, hooked on the idea that he could do anything he wanted in the name of the King. How beautiful that sounded. ''How will my contracts know I work for you then? How will I assure my position?'' He dared to ask, knowing full wel someone would not believe him on his word if he told them.
Gold. The most beautiful word in the world and one of the things liked to see the most. He ignored Lareths remark about women, not really knowing what he meant. His thoughts didn't wander back to Aella, no, the only thing he pictured was the gold he was about to swim in. Kaz held up his glass to have it refilled, still smiling, although it wasn't as broad as before. No, this was a sly smile, a smile that enjoyed whatever was happening here. ''Exactly. And how often I get paid as well.'' He dared to say, maybe stepping over a line. But gold was gold. And Kaz wanted every piece of it.

So many questions and you could say that larethian was used to it. That, my friend. Is something I will take care off. Suddenly he stepped forward, no longer frozen by the thought that Kaz would attack him again. Perhaps it was the alcohol that was starting to ease his mind. Perhaps it was the conversation. He could not clarify it for himself. Not yet at least. Larethian looked him in the eye for about a second or two before turning slowly around him. Softly, almost tender he touched Kaz his shoulder with the tips of his fingers. Feeling the fabric on his skin for about a second or so. Only to break the connection almost immediately. Completing his circle; facing him again, Larethian then just smiles, a distant smile – his eyes loaded with certainty. Certainty that the boy could be of use to him. And that he could be of use to him. Not only in gold. But perhaps also with other ’things’. He smugs a little and placed himself in front of Kaz again. I’ll ask one of my smiths you craft you a Valyrian ring. And on that ring is my sigil engraved. He tilts his head a little bit back before he shrugs. Most of the landowners know this sigil and have seen Valyrian steel.
He pulls his body back and moves it to the table were he filled his own glass with the slightest precision and then turns his body towards Kaz again only to fill his cup. He heard his reaction on the questions he asked earlier and a smile covered his face. Depends He doesn't clarify his thoughts, he just states them. The karaf was placed on the table again and he takes a sip from the filled glass before turning his gaze towards the boy again. The height depends on the contract you get from me. Wether it be a simple stealing job or an assassination. His answer to kaz when he spoke, was plain, the words simple yet empty. Showing again the difference between the two men. Larethian locked his eyes with his, but this time his gaze was calmer, almost timide. What do you think of that?

Suddenly his status had been upgraded to friend. He didn't hear the word a lot when he was around people so it flattered him. Not really, Kaz knew he had to take it with a grain of salt, but still, he appreciated the gesture. He wanted to take a step back when the king stepped forward, but as soon as he felt the fingers on his shoulder, Kaz froze. Only to relax seconds later, closing his eyes for a short moment. This had to be the alcohol. So, like every other rational creature would do, he drank more. Which was absolutely something a rational person would not do at this moment. Kaz gazed at Lareth, one eyebrow raised, his lips forming a smirk. He was really starting to like this.
The idea of holding a ring in his hand, a ring that would do more than a thousand words ever could to him, felt extrodinary. So much power in one small trinket. ''I'm starting to like you.'' Kaz said with that same smirk he had moments ago. Gladly he had his glass refilled, relaxing a bit more. This was bad for his head, but good for his well-being. Kaz didn't let Lareth go from his eyes. Somehow, he wouldn't mind to feel those hands on his shoulder again.
''It's a deal I would accept.'' Kaz spoke with honesty, sipping from his glass. Was he to bow now? Should he adress the king by his formal title? Like that was ever going to happen. ''It would be a pleasure.'' He added, already thinking of the endless possibilities ahead of him.

There was not a question that he would left unanswered. No, in fact he was being honest. Perhaps even too honest if you would ask an outsider. Not only he was gaining Kaz a favour. But also himself by having new souls to work for him and finished the filthy chores. Chores that he does not want to bother himself with. But the last question of the boy kept lingering in his mind for a while. How was he ever able to escape if he would get caught. Perhaps a sigil would do the trick. Nobody would disobey the Valyrian throne anyway. At least, no one ver tried. So a sigil it must be. In the form of a ring. A very special ring, gained from a special friend. But to gain the ring they must travel to the castle treasure room. He smirks a little. Let’s see how Kaz will react if he sees his friend. Protecting any gold the valyrian throne had to offer.
The slightest touch he had given Kaz with the tip of his fingers had left a burned feeling on his hands. He stretches his fingers for a few seconds but relaxes them as the feeling started to fade away. The alcohol was kicking in his system or else he would not have done these things. You could say that he was used to a certain amount of alcohol but the opposite proved that.
Don’t get too close with me now all of a sudden Kaz. Carefully tasting the name on his lips again. He threw a smouldering stare as he turned his body towards Kaz again. His gaze never leaving the one of Kaz as he took a step forward. after all, you attacked me. Don’t you want to do that right now? he asked him with the same smouldering look on his face as earlier. Or do you want other things. he smirks as his eyes lit up. Challenging him more than that the plan was.
He steps back, making the space between them bigger. Cheers Larethian spoke, raising his glass of wine to ‘celebrate’ their small deal. He grins as he tilts his head a little bit back to take a large sip. Before turning his gaze towards kaz again. But to seal the deal I must ask you to come with me. It was not a question, nor it was a demand. If he did not want to come he was welcome to leave. If he wanted to go with him. Well, there would be a small surprise ready for him.

That smoldering look. Kaz was sold. Not that he showed it, Kaz just stared. And grinned. The wine tasted good on his tongue and loosend him more than he actually wanted. But to hell with that, he was making the best deal of his life. Wine or no wine, he wouldn't change his mind on that one.
Kaz wanted multiple things, but not one was worthy of speaking. None was worthy for the king standing in front of him. Besides, Kaz had gotten what he wanted. Lots of gold, though he had yet to feel it in his hands, and immunity. He could kill and thieve whenever and whatever he wanted now. ''There are many things I want. None will be worthy to you.'' He spoke eventually, a smirk tugging on his lips.
But just as he wanted to take another sip from his wine, he lowered his glass, gazing at Larethian. He raised his brow. Come with him? A sudden feel of paranoia got to him. Of course Kaz would want to seal the deal, he would gladly do it, but what if this all was a rouse, a lie? Then he was now basically fucked. He should've thought about that sooner. For all he knew, Lareth could lead him to a jailcell and Kaz would the last of his days in prison. On the other hand, would Lareth have done all this, only for him then to lock up Kaz? What would the purpose have been then?
Kaz decided to ignore his gut and nodded, slowly. ''We've already been in the bedroom, so you must have something very thrilling to show me.'' Kaz smirked, downing the last of the alcohol that was left in his glass. It was the idea of the gold and the bright future that kept him going. Besides, if he did end up in a jailcell, he could easily work his way out of it. No locks were safe for him.

The deal between them has been made. It could have been risky, but Larethian would eventually see how Kaz would be of use to him. If not. Well, let’s see if he could come up with a plan to get rid of him then. Same if the boy was backstabbing him or something else in the process.
But to fully seal the deal he still had to show kaz some things.. Things that were important for this matter to be sealed. To make sure Larethian was able to leave his mark in the boy his head. To make sure his rules were clear and that he was not playing games, with no one. He grins. When the boy started to talk about his bedroom and how thrilling this thing was going to be that Kaz needed to see with his own eyes. And thrilling it was. Not to Larethian, but to the boy. Perhaps you could see it as a test. To see if he would back up or give in. Oh, I can assure you Kaz. That it will be thrilling. He smirks as he turns his body away from the boy. Follow me, we are going to make a little trip..
Without waiting for an answer he moved his body towards the other side of the house to the stables. He whispered something to Benjen and turns his head back towards Kaz. You can take the black horse. he simply pointed out while making his way towards his white stallion and jumped on it.

That voice. God. It send a chill down his spine. If it wasn't the golden future that was promised that had Kaz in his grip, it wouldn't take long for Larethian himself to get Kaz tied around his finger. Because the thief was listening and he was listening very carefully. Maybe he shouldn't have drank that many glasses of wine, but it was too late for that now anyway.
A little trip, hm? Now that surely was thrilling, if not exciting. Maybe it would be a trip to a pit where he was about to be scorged by a dragon, or maybe it would just be a trip to jail, but Kaz didn't mind. Gold. Think about the gold and you will be fine. Kaz couldn't do anything but follow the king, trying to keep up as he limped towards the stables. He got a black horse, how fitting. Before he jumped on the animal, he patted him lightly on its head, showing that he was just there to make friends. Not that the horse seemed to care. With some effort he got on it, eyeing the king with a smirk. How quickly things could change in a matter of moments. The thief didn't say anything, just waited for Lareth to start their journey to whatever place seemed so important right now.

Larethian told him that he could the black stallion. Which in a strange way would fit with the boy his personality. It was a fast steed, most of the time too stubborn for his own health and perhaps he also forgot too say a little hot-headed. He grins while thinking about the fact that the steed almost threw one of his guards off but he decided not to give it any attention. In fact he deserved another lesson, if the lesson Kaz was going to get would be not enough for him. For he did not accept any uproars, intruders or other persons who could be a threat against his loved ones. Not now, nor ever.
Kaz seemed to smirk at him while he moved himself on the stallion and he could not help it but to return him the favor. And once in the saddle he leaned back a bit. Creating some pressure on the reins and take a look at Kaz to see if he was done and ready for the trip. It wouldn't be far. At least not very far for his own opinion. They would have to cross some part of the desert and send their horses through some mountain passages but that would be it. So when he was ready he gave the stallion free range to start in a steady but fast gallop. Immediately the wind started to blow against his face carefully letting his gaze go back to see if Kaz had followed him. If not, well that would be his loss. He grins while he saw the guy and focus his gaze on the horizon again. Making sure the horse would keep the track that he was imagining. And wrong step could be your last one.
Traps were carefully placed in the sand so there would only be one way to enter the castle. At least, that was what everyone was thinking. But there was another way. To the passage under the castle. And that was where they were going right now. He had to make sure to get the things he needed from the creature they were going to see. And as the day continues and their horses grew tired of running the landschap seemed to change. It became a lot more darker and weary. With large spiked mountain tops that were close to them. His eyes trailed along the spikes and the large doors that dimmed up into their gaze. The doors to the treasure room that Valyria possessed. The doors to every coin and golden statue they made fortune of.

He noticed how the king looked at him as if he expected some sort of reaction of Kaz. But all Kaz felt at the moment was the alcohol getting to his head and the pain that seemed to go a little numb because of that. But Kaz ignored those warnings and simply shot Lareth a glance, and nodded. His curiosity won from his safety once again.
The entire ride Kaz stayed close to Lareth, but never rode besides him. For all he knew, he could still get kicked off his horse and left in the desert to die. But that didn't seem the case as the golden sands were replaced with a sturdier ground and two big doors appeared. The least you could say was that Kaz was impressed. He let his eyes wander over the stone, almost gaping at the sight of them. ''Fancy.'' He managed to get out of his mouth while he held back the horse. Whatever this was, it couldn't be a prison. Or at least, Kaz hoped it wouldn't be, because he wasn't getting out of it easily by the looks of it.

Nobody switched words during the travel towards whatever the king had in mind for him. And nobody seemed to care about it as well. Larethians system was still running on the wine and therefor he wasn't able to start a decent conversation. At least not with the man close to him. He could imagine seeing it all go wrong in the end like they started their day. And he wasn't sure if he wanted that to happen again. At least not for kaz.
Once the large doors dimmed up into his bright blue eyes a little smirk could be seen. And as they approached the doors Larethian saw the guards already waiting to open the large steel doors for them. They are what some people call 'impenetrable'. And can only be opened while performing a certain path into the lock of the door. Like a maze that has to be solved but 10000 times harder. The horses were forced into a slower walk and once the company was almost in front of the door the guards managed to open it for them and let them pass. No going back now, kaz. he murmured while laughing slightly amused.

I'm not a saint, but I could be if I tried, Lord knows I don't learn from my mistakes
Kaz made sure his horse caught up with the one of Larethian. For a moment he eyed the king, curious and a little scared. What did this man have up his sleeve? What was this place Besides that it seemed to be heavily guarded and quite important, Kaz couldn't really make up what it could be. What he did know was that if he made one wrong step here, it would probably his last. He got this far, it was no time to die, not yet.
Kaz turned his head towards Larethian when he spoke. For a short moment he frowned, trying to find the hidden message behind the words of the king, but his mind was too clouded with the lacohol. ''I wasn't planning to.'' He eventually answered after a short silence. Truly, what had Larethian planned for him? Because Kaz wasn't sure if he was going to like it.

I PICKED YOU UP AND PUT YOU BACK

With the slightest smirk on his face the two of them entered the gigantic hall of the treasure room. And behind them the guards were able to close the doors and lock them. Not only because he did not want anyone to go inside. But also because he wanted to make sure that the things in this cave stayed in this cave. The cave does not only possess the most precious gems of all. But there were other secrets. Secrets he never told anyone about. Not even his own children. He grins, again. As if a joke was coming or a good laugh would stir up his mind. But instead of express himself he continued to lead the way. Making sure not to take a misstep with the horse under him. His blue gaze trailed along the walls of the cave which were decorated with the finest stones in the country and while walking on they passed another hallway until finally a gigantic room with the most diverse glinstering things could be seen. In the distance a low growl could be heard.Followed by a pair of liquid golden eyes that grew larger with every step the horses took. Eventually Larethian demanded the horse to stop and he pulled his body down from the saddle. Get down and follow me. Oh and keep your mouth shut for now will you. he hissed the words towards Kaz and pointed his eyes for a short moment on him to see if he would even react.

The deeper they got in the cave, the more impressed the thief came. Was this supposed to be paradise? He felt eager to touch the walls of the cavern, wanting to know if they were real, maybe he could pry on loose and sell it. What a fortune he would make. But for once, Kaz thought twice and kept his hands to himself. This place probably wasn't real. The alcohol had been drugged and he was living in a dream. That was his own and only explanation. But what if it was not? ''Where did you even get all this?'' A stupid question. He was walking with the king for God's sake.
The sudden openness of the room surprised Kaz. And he couldn't help but feel his heartbeat rising as he heard a growl. Maybe this was a trap after all. How stupid had he been? The golden lights in the distance became larger and Kaz had a hard time understanding what exactly was going on. By the time Larethian demanded of him he got down, Kaz felt scared. He raised an eyebrow and tried to stay poised and hide his fear, but it was hard.
Carefully the thief placed a hand on his ribs, gliding down from the saddle. He wasn't really in a position to walk right now, especially not with his cane missing, but he tried. If he could, he would have glued is lips together, because it felt that every move he made right now was a wrong one.
